For the Monday Night Football game, they did something different; there was a Simpsons version being televised on Disney Plus. I remember the NFL doing something with Nickelodeon before; I didn’t tune into that, but saw a few clips… fun for the kids. This time around, my son was interested in checking it out, so we did. It was kind of cool. The Simpsons… the show that just goes on and on and on…
I remember exactly when the Simpsons came out, because I was in 8th grade, and we used it for our graduation t-shirts; it was an instant hit. And here we sit, 35 years later… and it’s still going strong; crazy! I used to watch it, but haven’t in a long time. Seeing the football game broadcast with the Simpsons characters was OK; definitely something for the big Simpsons fans and/or the kids to enjoy. I know it was behind the live broadcast a minute or so… although even the broadcast on ESPN is behind. I know this even more so now because of the Draft Kings app… talk about REAL time. Whenever I get a little impatient, I’ll take a peek at the app, and know what’s coming next. Now to find some sucker who I can bet to predict what will happen next in a game… haha. I saw a couple comments on Twitter… one was funny, not funny… imagining how the Simpsons broadcast would have looked during the Hamlin incident from a couple years ago… people are nuts.
Yeah, no more Simpsons for me, but I have gotten back into an animated show per my son’s request… Family Guy! I love that show, and now, my son does too. He probably doesn’t get all the jokes quite yet, and that’s perfectly fine with me, but he still laughs his ass off; I like to see him laugh like that. There are some pretty good episodes there. Is a Family Guy football game next? Imagine that… With technology nowadays, the sky’s the limit.
We didn’t stick on the Simpsons broadcast the whole time; it was bedtime for him anyways. As we brushed our teeth, he wanted to watch on my phone. Via Draft Kings, you can watch the games on your phone, at least the nationally broadcast ones, but only if you bet on it. This usually isn’t a problem… haha, but for this one, I had no bets on the game, but now… had to place one to watch it, so… no problem. Let me put a few cents on the Bengals ML. Of course, after getting stopped on 4th down with about 2 minutes left and about to punt the ball away to the Cowboys, those cents were about to be lost too… doh!
Yet, the story of this game is much deeper… The reason I didn’t bet on this game, besides not trusting the Bengals because they’re screwed me every which way this year, was because I had enough “action” on it. Yes, in the last regular season week of Fantasy Football, there was a lot at stake… Let’s talk about it.
