Sheesh… week 12?!?! Those days when we were 4-2 seem so long ago… It was all good just a month ago… Yes, and now, after 4 straight losses, 2 of which were of gut wrenching variety (although what the hell do we call the Cardinals and Patriots losses?), the Bears are 4-6, in last place in the NFC North, and are looking at a schedule the rest of the season that makes us think about a high draft pick, preferably to use on an offensive lineman. How did it all go so bad so quickly? For starters, the offensive line was not great heading into the season; it got worse with injuries. Our offensive game plan has not been the greatest, although not having a line can’t make it easy. We have a rookie QB. Our head coach may be in over his head. Our defense has had some injuries in the secondary. Any other questions?
The next question, as I alluded to in a previous post, is how will the Bears respond to their current predicament? This is a division game, at home, against a team that has been playing a bit over its reality IMO. Since the Colts, Jaguars, or Titans couldn’t do it, I guess it’s up to us to bring the Vikings crashing back to earth; my Vikings under win total depends on it, as does my mental welfare; how many more Bears losses do we have to take? Yes, there certainly look to be some Ls remaining on our schedule, but this one… maybe we can turn this one into a W, IF the Bears are still “into it”. There are 7 games to go; why wouldn’t they be “into it”?
Sam Darnold? Really? Yes, in a shocking development, he’s played really well; how many great defenses has he faced so far? Are we still calling our defense great? Justin Jefferson is an amazing talent, and Aaron Jones has provided previous heartbreak for us, but… we should be able to do well on that side of the ball. If the offense can continue where we left off last week, then maybe we can do this.
Final Score Prediction: Bears 27 Vikings 19
Ace in the Hole: Bears defense 5 sacks, 3 turnovers, and a TD
Why can’t I take these rose-colored glasses off? Why do I always think the Bears can do it? It’s in my DNA, OK. Sure, was I deflated (to put it nicely) after this latest Green Bay whacking? Yes, yes of course. Did I go out and burn all my Bears gear? Although that would be quite the bonfire, no… hell no; never that. I’m a Bears fan through and through; orange and blue all day baby. And yes, we’ve taken our lumps over the days, weeks, years, shit, decades, but we’re still alive. We’re alive, waiting for some rewards for our “die-hardness”. Give us an early present this Sunday on the lakefront boys. Bear Down!!!
