OK, time for another quick look around the league… “the league” of course is the NFL, as if there was another that even closely compares. You see how the NBA ratings are down? That’s another blog. Yes, the king’s season is more than halfway done now; how we looking?
This time around, let me check in specifically on my DK account’s long term outlook. I’ve tried this before, without success I may add, to add long term investments in my portfolio. This year in the NFL, I ramped that up, hoping to buck the trend of my season long bets. As of right now… although I’m not going to lose them all (hopefully), it’s not looking all that great.
I have 3 division winner bets; this is the spot I’m looking the strongest. The Lions are looking like the best team in football, and although they’re only 1 game clear of the Vikings at this time, I’m feeling pretty good about their chances of winning the NFC North. The Eagles are right there with them. They too, only have a slim lead, but they too, have already beat the closest team trailing them. Between these two teams, not only do I hope they both cash my division tickets, I think we’re looking at the NFC Championship preview. The other team that was supposed to be in the mix, was my other division winning bet: the San Francisco 49ers. Woof! OK, the Jets, the Cowboys, the Bears, but do the Niners have to enter the conversation for most disappointing team of the year? Sure, they’re only one game back, but they are definitely not looking good right now; tough game in cheese land this upcoming Sunday. This ticket is certainly not lost yet, but prospects are looking not so great.
I jumped into some win totals this year too, both before the season began, and during the season; these are not looking that great. Let’s go in the order of most dead to limping along. The Bears over 8.5 wins is a walking dead ticket; brutal stretch by my squad which we don’t have to discuss further at this point. The Steelers under 9.5 is on life support; they’re already at 8 wins!!! OK, pull the plug. The under Vikings 10.5 win total is in serious jeopardy; the Bears could help me with this on Sunday. The next 3 are in limping status. The Browns and Titans over 5.5 wins each; why do I continue to bet on bad teams?!?! Maybe the Browns can get there, although their schedule is brutal. The Titans schedule isn’t bad, but they are! Finally, the Bengals over 8.5 wins… great comeback last Sunday night should have been a W, but… now, we’re in serious trouble. Their schedule isn’t the easiest; they practically need to win out though. Yeah, win total bets maybe aren’t for me.
OK, fear not… I should be able to cash a few of these tickets, and hopefully, will be in position to hedge against a couple others??? That’s what I was looking forward to at least, in this first serious venture into season long NFL bets. Yes, the season may be halfway over, but… there is still a lot of football to be played! GO all my long term bet team tickets!!!
