Here we are again; how will the Bears respond to another gut-wrenching defeat? We don’t have to go back that far in time to see how they did the last time they were in this position. After losing the Commanders game the way we did, I thought the response against the Cardinals would tell us a lot about this Bears team; what did that game tell us? If I’m going to base the Bears response this time around, on their response the last time around, well… just shoot me now.
This one is a little different. The Bears played well against Green Bay; they did NOT play well against Washington. This follow-up game is against a division foe; the other one was not. This game is at home; the other one was on the road. This time around we have a new offensive coordinator, who after one game, looked pretty decent with the game plan. One thing that’s the same: Matt Eberflus is still the coach. The reports that he lost the team after the first 2 losses in this 4 game losing streak certainly have not been reputed with the performance in the past two, although arguably, our game against the Packers last week was one of our best of the year, even though it was another kick in the nuts loss. My biggest concern with this team right now, other than the obvious offensive line reconstruction that is required, is have they mailed it in?
That’s an insult, actually, to say that about a professional team. Mailing it in? Really? You’re getting paid handsomely to play a game, which you should be giving your best effort at each and every time; there should NEVER be a situation where you’ve mailed it in, even if the team as a whole is performing badly… even if you’re not buying what the head coach is selling. You, as an individual, should always hold yourself to a high standard, and understand that every time you set foot on that field, you are giving us a reflection of yourself. Never should you go out there and give a lackluster effort; effort should NEVER be questioned. Yet, in reality, here is where we sit.
If the Bears have not “mailed it in”, then I think they have a good chance this week at home against the Vikings. The Vikings, who have been prime for a regression, keep winning… albeit against bad teams; we know how that goes. Now, a division game on the road after beating up on some bad teams… against a team that just got their dicks kicked in, again…. I’d be lying if I didn’t say this feels like a good spot for the Bears.
OK boys; enough talking. Sunday at Soldier Field, in front of us fans that collectively have got their dicks kicked in right along with you during this 4 game slide, it’s response time. What are you made of? Forget who’s coaching. Forget about our record. Forget about how the rest of our schedule looks. Remember who YOU are. Get on that field, and kick some ass! Bear Down!
