For the 2nd time this year, I was asked if I threw the remote at the TV. The first time was after the Commanders lucky pass; this time, it was the last second FG block against the Packers. Surely, if any Bears loss should have lead to a “remote throw”, it would have been one of these. The answer was no, both times. This time something did fly… After the kick was blocked, I flung my big plastic sports cup that I drink water out of; I grabbed the remote, turned off the TV, and said I was going outside. Unbelievable to lose THIS way to THESE guys…
Back in the day my reaction definitely would have been different. First off, now my son is sitting next to me, and since I say I’m “always teaching”, reacting in a certain way would not be good. Secondly, I’m not drinking alcohol watching the games; certainly some of that in the system may lead to a more exaggerated response. I’ve stopped worrying about swearing at the TV during the Bears game in front of my son; what started when the Bears drafted Trubisky, has continued… he’s heard it all already. He knows the one time I will swear in front of him, outside of driving in the car, will be watching my teams. So yeah, were some choice words uttered throughout this game? Of course. I had to jump on the phone with my brother a couple times to really let loose.
One of these times (I haven’t watched or listened to pretty much anything postgame, other than the illegal way Green Bay blocked the FG, the same thing that was called on us against Arizona) was regarding our linebacker play. There was a swing pass to the GB RB about 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage; our LB was at the line of scrimmage. I would think, based on my knowledge of LBs over the years, especially Bears LBs, that it’s time to attack… but nooooo… our linebacker, Tremaine Edmunds retreated… taking an angle away from the receiver… allowing him to gain positive yards on a play that appeared setup to be a loss. Then, later on, our other LB, TJ Edwards, did the same thing… instead of attacking, going for the tackle, he retreated, setting up an angle like he was a CB/S, acting like the last line of defense… I was losing my mind. How the F do OUR LBs play this way? It was disappointing to put it lightly.
As is losing to this squad of yellow and green bitches… It’s one thing to lose like this, but why does it have to be to THEM? 11 in a row now, as Fox so nicely reminded us all broadcast long; they do own us, and I hate it. I keep waiting for those tables to turn… what 5 years and running now? Shit, longer than that really. It’s pretty sick to be honest. I was hoping for this one Bears victory, just this one…. they could have lost out after this one for all I care, but nope; couldn’t even get this one. Now, our spiral downwards continues; will we be able to pull ourselves up/recover from THIS one???
