November 1, 2024: Week 9 Preview Bears at Cardinals

posted in: Bears | 0

Here we go; how will the Bears respond? Well, Vegas has the Cardinals as small favorites in Arizona. What say you?

The Cardinals are a flaky team. Not saying we’re solid by any means, but man… Looking at the schedule from here on out, it doesn’t get much easier than these next 2 weeks. After the Cardinals, and the Patriots next week, the schedule becomes brutal; this is what makes that loss in Washington that much worse. We need to stack the wins when we can. The Bears have the hardest remaining schedule in the NFL. All 6 of our division games remain. Considering the NFC North is the best division in football, that will be a grind. The other 2 games after next week are against the 49ers and Seahawks. There is no easy game on the schedule after Weeks 9 and 10, but that’s not the way the Bears should approach it. Say what you want about the Cardinals and Patriots, it’s not like the Bears are in another league. In the NFL, every week is difficult for one; secondly, the Bears are still figuring it out too. It’s really good to win as you figure it out. This is what needs to happen this weekend.

I hate throwing around the term “must win”. There are games by definition, that are must win. Any game NOT defined that way literally is technically NOT a must win. After what happened last week to the Bears, considering what lies ahead for this team, the importance of this game grows. Even if we’re not Super Bowl bound this year, it feels like the playoffs aren’t that far out of the question. If the Bears lose this game, that dream is over IMO.

Final Score Prediction: Bears 27 Cardinals 17

Ace in the Hole: Defense 3 turnovers, 1 TD

I’m betting on this game too; screw it. I know my heart is always on the Bears; I know it’s tough to separate my head from my heart. I also know how important this game is for the Bears. Coming back from an epic loss, looking to keep the season alive and kicking, the motivation should be at a very high point. We’re going to see what these Bears are made out of, that’s for sure. There are games you should have lost and win; there are games you should have won but lost. To have both of those scenarios happen in one game is pretty crazy, but that’s exactly what last week’s game was. Now it’s time to win a game we should win. Let’s not dig a hole; let’s not decide to sit out the first 3 quarters. The Bears need to come out early and often. The defense, only allowing that TD, was solid; I think they keep it up. Now if only the offense can provide a little help… With the OL banged up, we better have a plan. Eberflus, Waldron… let’s see what YOU got. Bear Down!
