October 31, 2024: What’s Going On

posted in: Blackhawks, Bulls | 0

You know how frustrating it is not to be able to watch your teams on TV? I was used to this treatment as a kid with the Blackhawks, but the Bulls? Never. Never in my life have I NOT been able to watch the Bulls on TV whenever I wanted to… until now. The Chicago Sports Network really screwed this up.

I knew this was going to go on for a while, when they released a statement telling fans to complain to Xfinity/Comcast about this. Excuse me? Why the F do I have to do that? YOU figure it out. In fact, YOU knew this new network was coming for a long time, and now, because you didn’t work out a deal, and all of your leverage is now gone, you want US to talk to Comcast? Screw you. The fact that the names Reinsdorf and Wirtz are involved tells you everything you need to know about this. The patriarch of the Wirtz family blacked out years of Blackhawks games for fans. Reinsdorf? Well, he’s ran the White Sox franchise into the ground and now, loves to run back the same middling Bulls team year after year. What are we really missing?

Well, I can’t see Bedard play. The Blackhawks have this generational player and millions of their fans can’t watch him play; great strategy Cotton. The Bulls? Well, they’re on their way to another 500 season. Would it have been nice to watch one of their two comebacks from down 20 points? Yes. Does it suck that the Bulls are playing and we can’t all sit down as a family and watch the games? Yes it does. Supposedly, there’s the framework of a deal going on; they’re saying this should all be straightened out by Thanksgiving… perfect. This “deal” will include more money coming out of my pocket. This network has the Hawks, Bulls, and Sox; word is the deal will be $19.99 per month per team OR $30 per month for all teams? Sounds like a deal to me all things considering. Is $360 out of my bank account each year worth it? For me it is. What other choice do I have? Buy some raggedy ass antenna to get a non-HD signal to watch the Hawks and Bulls play on a fuzzy TV screen? I’m not switching to DirecTV. Supposedly Fubo has them now, but who the hell has that? Sure, cable is on the downturn supposedly, but how many streaming services do you need to purchase to watch everything you want? This is getting ridiculous.

I’d like to tell whoever is responsible for this to their face how bad they suck at their job. How can a new Chicago sports network that’s supposed to be “for the fans” start off like this? It’s about as bad as it gets, it really is. The only thing that could be worse than this is if they up and moved one of our teams from Chicago. If you’re a Sox fan, stay tuned. Complete BS…
