October 15, 2024: Division Check II

OK, let’s head over to the NFC, as we continue our division checks on the doorstep of Week 7 in the NFL season. How we looking?

The NFC East has a surprise leader. The Washington Commanders and Jayden Daniels have burst on the scene. Why do I think their days are numbered? Well, for one, their defense isn’t good. For two, and this goes for all rookie QBs, even our own, once the NFL gets the book on you, adjustments will be made; there will be steps taken backwards before you determine the next steps. Daniels looks great, and should be fine, but they will slide a bit. That leaves the division for the “who the hell knows what’s going on with them” Eagles, who I bet on in the preseason to win the NFC least. The Cowboys just got spanked; maybe their coach is the first to go? The Giants… well, they’re not as bad as some thought; they may just hang around 500 the whole year, but yeah, the class of this division, on paper at least, is Philly; now will they start playing like it?

The NFC North is the best division in football; who would have thought it? Yet, looking at much of the competition, it’s been lacking, for the most part. We know about the Bears and who they’ve played; Packers same boat. In fact, all of the north will get the AFC South; it’s a good year for that. There has only been one intra-division game played up until this point; the 2nd will take place in Week 7. I still think the Lions come out on top at the end of the day, supporting my division winner bet, although losing Hutchinson… that really hurts. At the end of the day, the whole division won’t get in, but 2 of the Wild Card teams in the NFC might come from this division.

The NFC South is a battle between Tampa and Atlanta, kind of as we thought. The Panthers are god-awful; the Saints, with their injuries piling up, aren’t that far behind. Who you got? Bucs or Falcons? Both may get in the playoffs. I think the Bucs remain underrated while the Falcons are a tad overrated; they’re probably both about the same. Baker Mayfield vs Kirk Cousins for division supremacy in bizzaro world 2024.

The NFC West probably only has 1 team coming to the dance, and that team, has to be the Niners, right? I took a look at that division price, and it wasn’t quite 2 to 1, so I took a piece of Frisco. They don’t have an easy schedule, and who knows when CMC returns, but… who else we trusting there? The Seahawks are flaky, the Rams are banged up… will there be enough time for them to recover? The Cardinals are all over the place. Once the dust settles, they may not get a large number of wins, but the Niners should do enough to take the division again. Love them this week vs KC by the way in a Super Bowl revenge spot.

OK, there is our spin around the NFL in 2 parts. I can’t get enough of this shit, can you tell? With the Bears doing their part to make the NFL season great, this season is shaping up to be phenomenal… if anybody says otherwise, either their team sucks, or they’re losing money on the games. NFL is still king, although… I haven’t been this much into college football in a while either. Football, football, football…
