We were so excited to get into the Survivor contest at Circa this year. Had a couple meetings with the boys, walking through our options for the Week 1 pick; we did have other options… Yet, we kept coming back to the Bengals in Week 1; we couldn’t get away from them. The Patriots are just too horrible of a team; no way the Bengals lose their home opener to these saps. Well, yes way. The Bungles blew it, and we were out as quick as we were in. We weren’t alone of course; there were 4,000+ other entries that were flushed down the toilet with that performance. Misery loves company?
Well, this losing bandwagon would keep filling up. Week 2 the biggest pick was the Ravens; how’d that work out? Week 3 was the Bengals again; bam! It wasn’t only them. In the first 3 weeks of the season, there has been nothing short of carnage in survivor pools across the country; my DK account has been taking hits too. It’s been as crazy a first 3 weeks of the NFL season as I can remember. That Circa survivor contest… that started with 14,266 entries… unbelievably, is down to only 642 entries!!! That’s insane. IF we were able to dodge the Week 1 bullet, would we have made it through the gauntlet of the last 2 weeks? Maybe not; we’ll never know. I do know that the implied valued of those remaining 642 entries is $22,221… chop it now!
Only two things have been true thus far in the NFL: Parity and the partnership between the refs and the Chiefs. OK, they’re not the ONLY undefeated team. The Vikings have looked surprisingly impressive; same for those Buffalo Bills. The Steelers and Seahawks too?!?! There have been a crazy amount of upsets in these first 3 weeks; will the madness continue? From one week to the next, one game to the next, it’s anybody’s guess. I’ve been “guessing”… not too well I might add. The Chiefs though… enough is enough huh? That PI call at the end of the Atlanta game in the end zone in front of every single official that wasn’t called… And yes, I did have the Falcons in that game… haha. Have to try to be on the right side of things… not easy.
It’s the NFL, and yes, it is STILL king. I saw some comments on Twitter about the NFL product getting worse… sounds like somebody lost some money… haha. Yes, passing is down, rushing is up, field goals are about the same as TDs, and underdogs are running wild… does that make it bad? Not for me. Sure, I’d like the Bears to be 2-1 instead of 1-2, and I’d like to have been on the right side of a few more games thus far, but man… the NFL is the top dog. From survivor to fantasy to betting, it draws almost everybody in. At the end of the day though, for me, through it all, and yes I LOVE it all, it boils down to my Bears. Taking that L to the Colts on the chin, definitely ready to see my boys redeem themselves… against a Rams squad that’s decimated with injuries yet found a way to come back and beat the defending NFC Champion 49ers this past Sunday. Buckle up everybody… the ride has just begun.
