September 16, 2024: Busiest Time of the Year

It’s been crazy lately; so much going on. Currently, I am managing 5 separate fantasy teams… haha. After this week concluded, I am now down to 4. Got knocked out in one of my fantasy baseball leagues; my nephew kicked my ass. My team which has been red hot, had a horrendous week, and I bowed out; one less team to worry about. Thankfully, in the money league, I beat my nemesis; it didn’t start off too well, but when my pitchers showed up later in the week, it was over, and I’m moving onto the semifinals; one win away from some dough! Let’s go!

Of course, then there’s my 3 fantasy football teams. In the auction league, 2-0 in 2nd place, playing the 1st place team next week. In my keeper league, 1-1; in the family league, 1-1. Not a horrible start to the season; just trying to dodge the injuries. Tua, Pacheco, and AJ Brown were on my teams; not ideal. Still, very early on… plenty of time to get better or worse. Then, I have my son’s 2 teams on my phone too…. so 7 teams overall last week?!?! That’s just too much; it really is the busiest time of the year.

With College and the NFL ramping up, and the MLB heading to the postseason, it’s also a great time of year. Oh yeah, and don’t forget the NHL and NBA right around the corner; there’s too much going on to be honest. Need to focus… then there’s the betting side of things; oh man… Part of me is glad the survivor pool is over for us; the other part is still pissed at the Bengals, although if we did survive week 1, my vote would have been Ravens, so… or Cowboys… not sure if we would have made our way to the Chargers; it’s possible. But yeah, there’s one less thing to think about. One thing that distracted me this weekend, and not for the positive, was these damn prop bets. It was a tough enough weekend as it was, but then add some prop bets… forget it… too much. Focus.

Thankfully this weekend was pretty much cleared out to watch football; this won’t happen that often going forward, but I’ll take it. It reminded me of a less busier time of my life, when all we did was look forward to Sunday. We had the NFL package, every game; our apartment door was unlocked, and anybody and everybody could come watch. Some Sundays there would be a dozen of us; others there may be 4-5 guys. It didn’t matter. It was a very fun time; thankfully I’ve had many of these periods in my life. Sitting on the couch watching football with my son, I told him maybe one day, we’ll get back to something like that… all my buddies, his friends/cousins… could be cool.

For now, we’ll take what we can get; I’m drinking out of a fire hose right now. Need to switch it out for a regular hose and put it on trickle, and focus. No more props. Fantasy baseball will be ending soon. We’ll get to a manageable level soon. Really zoning in on football. The NFL is king. Bring it on.
