I don’t know what it is. Is it because we sucked last year? Is it because we’ve went a new direction at QB? Is it because the baseball season in Chicago has been not good? Is it because we went undefeated in the preseason? Is it because we watched the Bears on Hard Knocks? I’m so hyped about the start of this Bears season. I think I’ll select all of the above.
I’m going to try to stick to my routine during Bears season, and do a game preview every Friday for Sunday games. September 6th is Friday; here is the first game preview… finally! We are only days away now… Let’s go.
The Bears are favored by 4/4.5 points depending where you look; I think that’s a really sharp line. Of course, I like the Bears. The hype train is rolling along the tracks at 100 MPH; how much have you heard about the Titans and their prospects this year? THIS is one of the things that scares me, along with that ridiculous stat about QBs taken #1 in their first start. 4-22-1 straight up since 1970; wtf, really?!?! That’s a tall order, asking Caleb to win his first game then huh? Well, yes, but… we know this isn’t a normal #1 overall QB. I’m not saying he’s better than everybody else (I hope so). What I’m saying is that he’s not coming into your typical worst team in the league/shitty-ass situation. The Bears are a solidly built team. I’m not saying we’re among the best; I know we have our holes/concerns.. offensive line??? I’m saying we’re better than the Patriots and Panthers, for starters. Caleb has been put in a relatively decent position for starters. Hopefully with his play combined with continuing to improve the roster, we have many bright days ahead… but back to Week 1.
The Titans are actually one of my dark horse teams this year; I’ve picked them to be a wild card. I haven’t bet their win total… yet; waiting for this first loss and better odds… haha. Their schedule isn’t easy either. This first game of the season matches up two teams that I think will be playoff teams, two teams that will be much improved, and will exceed expectations this year. With Hopkins (yes, I think he’ll be playing) and Ridley as the top 2 wideouts, Levis will have plenty of TD passes I believe… hopefully not too many Week 1. I probably would pick the Titans this week in another matchup; I’m sure there are people picking them in this matchup. I’m not though, duh!
Final Score Prediction–> Bears 24 Titans 20
Ace in the Hole–> Caleb Williams of course w/2 TD passes
If you think I was picking against the Bears in Week 1, then you really don’t know me. I may be wrong; the Bears may fall flat on their face in the opener, as they have many times, popping my excitement balloon early for the season. This year is different, right? I think it will be. I’ve got the Bears winning 10 games; that’s aggressive but reasonable IMO. Will the 1st win of the year come on Sunday? We can only hope. Finally, it’s here. Bear Down!!!
