Welcome to maybe the best division in football? The Ravens will be in the mix without a doubt. If the Bengals have a healthy Joe Burrow, most certainly they will be in the mix. The Browns are coming off a big year, but rely on Watson to get to the next level. The Steelers… the Wilson-Fields combo at QB is good for a ticket to the basement of this division IMO, but… that’s why they play the games.
MVP Lamar Jackson will be back, but his OC is different. I remember hearing last year that so much of his success was attributed to the OC, and now… Not a huge Lamar fan, but the dude is super talented; adding Derrick Henry to that backfield, and continuing with a solid defense, and coaching staff with “the other Harbaugh”… It’s really hard to imagine the Ravens not punching another ticket to the postseason, whether it’s via the division winner route or wild card. I still hate we let Roquan walk…
The team that could unseat them is in Cincinnati. I’m a big Joe Burrow fan. His favorite target Chase should have a big year, and Tee is a really good one too. Zack Moss at RB? Not so sure about that, but if Burrow stays healthy… watch out. It was only a few years ago when this team was in the Super Bowl.
Cleveland made a great run last year with the miraculous Joe Flacco at QB. Their defense was great too, yet… the Texans kicked their ass in the playoffs; I wish I wasn’t drinking all that Browns’ juice. And now, Deshaun Watson will be counted on to be the man again; did all those massages take his mojo too? He looked on the path to stardom with Houston, but now? We shall see. Can the defense maintain their play? We are talking about Cleveland here, so… probably back to normal.
Normal in Pittsburgh under Tomlin is winning seasons. The defense should be able to do its part, but what about that offense? They flipped the script at the QB position; they definitely get A for effort. Now how Russell Wilson will pan out is another question. They were smart in that they got an insurance policy and potential future QB with Justin Fields; remember him? Again, surrounding the QB position should be applauded, yet… the proof is in the pudding. We’ve seen Russell be great; in Chicago, we’ve seen Fields have his moments. Can either or both of them bring it back? If so, the Steelers may be a dark horse in this division; if not, they may be in the basement.
I like the AFC North, maybe it’s because they’re our brethren here in the NFC North? With Harbaugh and Tomlin, you have 2 long time coaches; I like that. Burrow is a top notch QB; Watson? It’ll be interesting, that’s for sure. Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for… time to go home.
