May 17, 2024: The Continuing Story

Fresh off the trip to London with a bye week and a 4-2 record, the Bears head on the road to play a couple cream puffs to start the second 3rd of the season; stay focused boys!

Week 8 at Commanders– WIN 17-16

It wasn’t pretty, but it doesn’t have to be. With Caleb Williams not on his A game, the Bears still find a way to win behind the running game and their defense, just like us old heads like it. Yeah, we sweated this one out, but still came out on top. Winning shootouts, winning close ones… what can’t we do???

Week 9 at Cardinals– LOSS 31-28

The offense wakes back up, but the defense struggles, letting Maserati Marv run circles around us. A whole 2 feet taller than QB Kyler Murray, just throw the ball up there brings new meaning, and Marv mosses the Bears secondary all game long, totaling 3 TDs on the afternoon. Sometimes you just have to chalk a game up… or get taller CBs!

Week 10 vs Patriots– WIN 21-7

Grinding… one TD pass, one rushing TD, and one defensive TD is the formula for a Bears win back home against the hapless Patriots. I love typing “Hapless Patriots”… kind of reminds me of a certain Super Bowl, and… something that’s been a long time coming. Enjoy sucking for a while New England!!!

Week 11 vs Packers– WIN 27-24

You think I’m going to pick a loss against Green Bay? You must not know me, unless of course I was trying for the whole reverse psychology thing. Beating the Packers is extremely satisfying, yet necessary, if we want to contend for a division crown. So, yeah, it’s win-win beating the Cheese, and man, does it smell good around here. The Bears are 7-3… yeah, that’s right.

Week 12 vs Vikings– LOSS 24-23

Say what? Yeah, the one division team that wasn’t picked to finish ahead of us comes into Chicago and escapes with a W. Hometown boy JJ has a whole section of fans, that wasn’t much help since he has already been benched… just kidding. Good luck to the kid, just hopefully not against us… again.

The Bears sit at 7-4 through the first 12 weeks of the season; again, I’d take that. We kind of have to be here at this point, because looking ahead at the final 6 weeks of the season… no cake walk; definitely our hardest stretch of the schedule. If the Bears can somehow figure out a way to go 3-3 in the final 6 weeks, we should be able to punch our ticket to the postseason. If not, we may experience another miss… a near miss, but a miss is a miss is a miss, and I’m sick and tired of watching all these other teams play in the playoffs. So, about that… back to the continuing story of the 2024 Chicago Bears. Bear Down!!!
