The last day of April… it couldn’t end soon enough…
April was the end of an almost 2 month slide in my 3rd career of professional sports gambling… haha. That just sounds funny, but hey, we’re not giving up yet! Sorry if my mind has been a little preoccupied lately. Yeah, it started with all good stuff, like my wife’s birthday, our anniversary, my son’s birthday, our Spring Break vacations… life gets busy, and this is ALL good stuff… great stuff. Besides more money going out than in during this time of year, everything else about it is golden. Then, the tide turned… my Mom passed on April 6th, and my brain has been pretty much mush since… more mush than normal. We press on…
But March Madness… woof! Took a bit hit there. There was of course the 15 game losing streak, which essentially took out 1/3 of my bankroll. It’s been a pretty big slide. With everything going on the past few weeks, I’ve slowed my pace, which what do you know, has stabilized my slide. In fact, since April 22, I’ve been on the positive side of things, as I continue to repair my damaged bankroll. It would have been nice had some of my long term plays came in.
Yeah, I’m pissed Coby White didn’t win Most Improved Player; I think he deserved it. Not saying Coby is better than Maxey, just saying he improved more, which is the essence of the award, or so I thought… idiot voters. I also had the Orioles to have the most wins by the end of April, and… if it wasn’t for an old friend, I would have cashed it. Yeah, this guy whose silhouette I have on a Cubs shirt that says “Game Over” screwed me by blowing 2 saves this weekend vs the As. Thanks Craig Kimbrel. I still almost pushed, until the Phillies won late, to capture that achievement. Still waiting for my Wemby Defensive Player of the Year to hit; doubt it. And my other baseball season long bets… Robert over his HRs…. he’s hurt. Bryant over his HRs… he’s hurt. White Sox over their win total… no comment. Adding some long term plays to my portfolio felt like a good idea, but… the results have not been there, yet.
Back to the day to day grind, which I’ve got to be honest, isn’t feeling the same; maybe it will at some point. I’m starting to zone in, a little bit, but still don’t feel like I have a handle on things. At least I’m sort of keeping up with this… May has to be better; May will be better. I’m ready to kick this next month off, and get back on a roll, in a lot of ways. Yeah, that sounds like a plan. Nothing really big going on this month other than… oh yeah… Mother’s Day.
