As the madness continued into Saturday evening, there was another team playing. Remember the Chicago Bulls? Yeah, I get engulfed with the madness if you haven’t already been able to figure out, yet, we still found time to work the Bulls into the evening’s plans. The Bulls welcomed the Celtics into the UC on Saturday night; how’d that go?
When 3 Celtics starters were announced out, you thought there’d be a chance. However, the Celtics proved that their backups were just as capable against a team like the play-in Bulls. It wasn’t that close really. The Bulls made some pushes, but felt like the Celtics had the game the whole way; they did by 11 points. Were you surprised?
The Bulls are almost a lock to play in the play-in games again. Most likely, they will end up the 9 or 10 seed, which means… they’ll have to win the 9 vs 10 game, THEN beat the loser of the 7 vs 8 game, THEN… if we win both, we’d win the 8 seed, which would mean an opening playoff series against the Celtics. As you can see, this season isn’t going anywhere. Should we just stop watching? Well, that’s not in my DNA. We’ll cheer them on. We’ll be happy they make the play-in games. We’ll celebrate any game they win. And then, when the season is officially over, reality will hit; the Bulls aren’t that great of a team.
Sorry to be so negative, but it is the reality. How do we escape being this play-in level NBA team? There are rumors that Lonzo Ball will be back… so… we’re pinning our hopes on the return of Lonzo? When Lavine returns to the lineup as well, then we’ll be back? I’m not feeling good about that. Oh yeah, but wait… Patrick Williams will be back too. But then, most likely, we subtract DeRozan from the equation. It’s kind of a mess. I like Coby and Ayo.
It’s the Bulls own form of madness… Bulls Madness, and we’ve been living in this state for many years. It all started when Thibs was sent packing. Since then, which was 9 years ago now, we’ve played in two official playoff series, winning a total of 3 games combined in the two. Since I mentioned Thibs, while we’re talking about the predicament we’re in, how about Billy Donovan? You still feel good with him?
The Bulls have been, and continue to be, mediocre. This is not acceptable. Back in 84, a kid was drafted that said he wanted the Bulls to be discussed among the great franchises in the NBA. 14 years and 6 rings later, this was true. We’ve been riding those results for the past 26 years… Outside of the Thibs teams, we really haven’t been close. Scott Skiles coached us to 1 playoff series win back in 2007… that’s it. So 1 playoff series win since 1998 by a coach not named Thibs? Yes. Thibs coached for 5 years; the Bulls had 4 playoff series wins. Of course there’s the whole Rose thing… that number would be drastically different IMO. So even if we add in the Thibs era, the Bulls have won 5 playoff series in the past 26 years. Are you OK with that? Stay tuned for 2028 when the Bulls win win their next playoff series… that 1 playoff series win every 5 year pace… ugh…
Bulls are back in action on Monday, when they’ll take on the Washington Wizards, again. Last time vs the Wiz at the UC, it was a 29 point victory. I think this one will be a lot closer, but at least the Bulls should win again. We have to celebrate every regular season win, because postseason wins… nothing coming soon in that category. Go Bulls…
