Every 4 years right? We get that extra day in February. It’s kind of weird. What’s the whole background on this anyways? I’m sure I looked at it up at some point; I don’t recall. I’m sure I can look it up again, but… I’m trying to catch up here. Time is precious. An extra day should be helpful, right?
Leap, Leaping, Leaping Lanny Poffo. Remember him? You may remember his brother a little better; Randy Poffo? Still nothing. OK, how about Randy Macho Man Savage? Now you got it. One of my favorite wrestlers of all time. His match vs Ricky the Dragon in Wrestlemania III… it doesn’t get much better than that. What a classic, actually that whole Wrestlemania, ending with Hulk slamming Andre! We were by one of my friend’s house from grammar school. In between each match, we were wrestling with each other. Those were the days. But back to Leaping Lanny… Yes, he was the Macho Man’s brother. The best time to see him would be early Saturday morning, when he would come out and get destroyed by somebody. How I remember this dude, don’t ask. I remember the strangest stuff… I guess like a lot of other stuff, it feels like wrestling today can’t top what was going on back then. We were into wrestling big time for a while there; not so much any more, at least not for me. My son isn’t into it either. Oh well…
Imagine being born on February 29th? That would suck, only getting to celebrate your true birthday every 4 years; you have to count your age in like dog years or something, right? No, don’t think it works like that. I heard something cool for anyone born on this day. The Circa in Las Vegas was comping your drinks the entire day. Yeah, if you were born on February 29th, showed ID, and came into Circa, they had you covered all day. Damn, that’s pretty sweet. Yeah, I know Vegas gives you free drinks anyways, but still… nice little benefit for those born on the day we see 1x every 4 years.
My dad almost hit that day; he was born the day before on the 28th. Happy Birthday Dad btw. It was kind of a big one; 3 quarters! Yes, every birthday is special, or at least it should be, and maybe as you get older, that should even be more true NOT less true, but yeah, 75… My mom just hit that number a few months back. I don’t even think of my parents being 75 years old. I don’t know how old I think of them to be, but… I guess I don’t… think about their age at all. I know they’re “getting up there”, but not to me. They’re still just Mom and Dad to me, and as it always should be, I cherish them. I know one day… well, let’s just enjoy THIS day.
So yeah, Feb 29… just another day? Yes, just another day…
