December 2, 2023: Pleasant Viewing Experience

posted in: Bulls | 0

If you’ve read me talk about the Bulls season thus far, you understand how unhappy I’ve been. When the Bulls beat the Bucks earlier this week, I felt a tinge of happiness. With a great play by Ayo, a big shot by Coby, a big shot by Caruso, and a win against the Bucks at home… that was a very nice surprise. With the Bulls next game coming at home against the Pelicans on Saturday night, I was hoping for another pleasant viewing experience; I wouldn’t be disappointed.

We were thinking about going to the game. They had a nice giveaway, but… the tickets were still pretty high. Since we’re already planning on going to some other games soon, we passed; I was fine with it. Ordered our pizza, sat in front of the TV, and watched the game together on the couch. Finally, watching the Bulls again was fun. Sure, it doesn’t hurt that they won again, but there’s something different. I’m not sure about you, but the team looks like they’re having fun out there; something I haven’t seen in a minute. I wonder what it could be…

I guess Stacey and Adam, or whoever is broadcasting next to him is not going to say. Chuck and Bill on the radio may not mention it. Jason, Kendall, and Will in the postgame show may not admit it. But I hope that AKME is seeing this… The biggest lift for this team is Zach Lavine on the bench; believe that!

I’ve been supporting Zach his whole time here, but let’s face it; he’s not it. He’s not a #1; he’s maybe a #2 on some nights. Most fittingly, he’s a solid #3. Well, we don’t need another borderline star on our team; we need a bona fide star. I said earlier in the year that I liked the pieces the Bulls have; the problem comes at the top of the roster. It’s just not good enough, and that starts with Zach. But it seems like more than that, doesn’t it? It’s not just how good or bad Zach is when he steps on the court, it’s his leadership, or lack there of. It’s how this team flows both offensively and defensively when he’s in there, or the way this team DOESN’T flow. I don’t think this is luck or a coincidence that the Bulls have won the past 2 games without Zach.

Time will tell, but if I’m the Bulls, I’m trading him as soon as possible. Problem is, per what I’ve read, there’s no market for Lavine; no shit. Unfortunately, that doesn’t surprise me. Honestly, just find a team to take him and his whole salary; I don’t really care what we get back, but I’m thinking we can get somebody, no? I think he’s played his last game in a Bulls uniform; I hope this is the case. If it’s not, and he comes back on the court with the Bulls, I will root for him; that’s what I do. If he gets moved, well, then I don’t have to do that any more. Congrats on the nice Ws the Zach-less Bulls. Go Bulls!!!
