Let’s just be honest… we should have beat the Vikings the last time around. This was the game where Fields got knocked out. Bagent came in and immediately fumbled into a Vikings defensive TD. He recovered nicely and was leading us on a potential game winning drive before throwing a duck for a game ending pick. The Vikes still had Cousins, who played one of his best games against us, even without Jefferson. Now, the Vikes have Dobbs, who has been a really nice story this year, but… he looks like he’s coming down to earth. Let’s help him continue that journey back to a journeyman QB on Monday night.
The Vikings are favored, duh, but only by 3 points. With 3 points for home field advantage, you’re telling me the Bears and Vikings are equal? OK. Maybe I would say that, but the general population of folks in this country, probably would not. I’m thinking positive, like I always do. I’m taking the good things from the last game “we should have won” against the Lions; thanks for taking a shit on my Thanksgiving Detroit… losing to the Packers at home on Thanksgiving??? I thought you guys were for real… Anyways, yeah, the Bears should have beat the Lions too honestly, but… because we have no clue how to close a game… So now, I’m expecting this team that doesn’t know how to close to beat a division opponent on the road in primetime? Yes, yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying.
I think this is a feature game for Fields. I think his future in Chicago is still very much up in the air. Many have already ticketed him out of town in favor of one of the college QBs coming out in next year’s draft, but I’m not; I may have said this before one or two times. The jury is still out. Yes, he had a good game last time out, his first game back, against the Lions in Detroit… other than the fumble at the end. However, one of the things that I would like to see from here until the end of the season, is Justin helping us learn to win, helping us close out a game. Yes, I know the coaching has something to say about that, but… if you’re the guy, raise up man… raise up and lead this team to victory in a close game for once! I still believe.

Yes, I never learn, I know. And yes, I still believe this season can be considered a mild success if the Bears end strongly. Remember, we won 3 games last year… doubling our win total may not equal what we thought would be contending for a playoff spot, but… maybe we overshot our expectations this year; maybe we were a year early. If the Bears can double their win total from last year, which they still have a very good shot at doing, I’m going to feel a little better. If they do this, and if the Bears and Fields can show they have learned a little bit about winning, then… maybe Justin can still be our guy, and we move forward with our draft and free agency next year accordingly.
