Sitting there, watching the Bears at the start of the 4th quarter, my wife asks me: Are we really going to watch this? Do you want to torture yourself? Yes, we’re going to watch this, and apparently, yes, I do want to torture myself. I’m a glutton for punishment. Regardless of how bad the Bears are doing, I’ll still sit there… staring blankly at the TV… I especially love it when the Bears look like ass on national TV… that’s bad enough, but when you throw in the refs calling some weird shit, an open WR falling down in the end zone dropping an easy TD, and Collinsworth babbling on… woof! This Bears season for all intensive purposes is over.
We look for anything, trust me. The win with Bagent last week against the Raiders gave us a little hope, and we grabbed on to that hope as tight as we could, but… just like when the Bears won their first game against the Commanders… yeah, the Bears are back; we’re going to beat the Vikings. Our schedule is doable. Flop! My expectations are back to zero now for the rest of the season. Any more losing will not make it worse (in theory); any win will be a nice surprise. I can’t hinge the start of every week on the result of the Bears game; I just can’t. Maybe the Bulls can help… yeah, ok. The Hawks? Maybe.
As they did the roll call for the Bears offense and defense last night, it’s pretty apparent we still have many, many issues, besides JUST the QB. The trenches are poor, especially on defense. Yeah, how crazy is that? For as bad as our offensive line has been, the defensive line is WORSE! Who the hell are these guys? This is nothing new, I just wish Poles would have come out clearly and told us he’s not going to give a shit about it. Sure, I was completely onboard with the offensive lineman taken in the first round; bravo! No other offensive lineman taken the rest of the draft? We pickup a guy that doesn’t like to practice? One addition was NOT going to solve this problem. On the DL, yeah, we signed that guy late in the offseason, but… the Bears have 10 sacks… ALL YEAR!!! Khalil Mack had 6 sacks himself in the game against the Raiders earlier this year. It’s bad, really bad. When you suck in the trenches, does anything else really matter?
And yeah, about the QB position… I was talking to someone, and he said that Bagent is just the type of QB for the Bears. No, not because he’s white and Justin is black; that’s just some dumb shit, sorry. No, the reason is because that’s what we’ve been used to our whole lives! A middling QB who “manages the offense” coupled with an above average defense; this has been most of our lives as Bears fans. Unfortunately, Bagent really didn’t “manage” so well against a team that isn’t shitty like us, plus, we can’t even say that about the defense any more. I still like Bagent… as a backup QB. Why can’t we have a dynamic, franchise QB? How many swings and misses have to occur before we finally hit? Are we still hoping in Justin? I am… I told you about any hope, and how tight we grab on to it. If not Justin, then what? Another QB drafted in the first round surrounded by shitty trenches on both sides of the ball? I’m not even talking about the coaching and play calling. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why the Bears didn’t call timeouts at the end of the game, and get some more practice in… God knows they need it, and NO, I wasn’t just rooting for the back door cover; I didn’t bet on the Bears… thankfully.
So yeah, the beatdown goes on… and on and on and on…
rocky
no D pressure on qb
fair to midlin’ O line protection
year after year of questionable play calling
if we want to see what Bagent can do, turn him loose
JEFFK
I really want to see what Fields can do! Hopefully we get some more evidence of that this year…
