That was more like it. A return home was just what the doctor ordered. The Hawks made it look relatively easy in grabbing the win Sunday to pull within 2 wins of advancing to the conference semifinals.
For starters, it was great to hear OUR version of the anthem. One thing I didn’t need convincing of was whose version is the best. There is no bad version right? Well, I can think of a few, and the predators sing along version is one. Nothing against the people of Nashville, or against people who sing the anthem, but there is a reason we’re all not professional singers. Let someone sing it who knows what they’re doing; let them lead us. And for the record, I can’t imagine how anyone can think the Hawks rendition is disrespectful. If you’ve been to a game for that, you know what I mean. Chill city.
Someone else who’s been pretty chill has been Mr Darling. Coach Q appears to have made the right call again. That first goal was stoppable, but other than that, he was rock solid. Did we just play a better overall game and better in front of him? Yes, I would say that too. I’ve discussed this in some detail…I just think you have to ride the hot hand, and Darling definitely has that.
For all the talk about our goalies, what about Pekka Rinne? Talk about someone who has been unimpressive. I bet Nashville wishes they had someone like Darling on their bench. Pekka has not looked like the goalie I remember. A look at his numbers shows he’s been this bad for a while now…ever since his injury mid season. I guess he’s not 100%, but oh well. It also helped to have Weber out for this one, and Fisher too by the way. They’d have a tough time beating us at 100%, let alone anywhere less than that. And what about their version of Rozsival? Their defenseman Josi pulled one of those skate towards the center and not at the player moves, while Saad fired it in. Glad to see it’s not only our guy doing some dumb stuff.

Nice to see Desjardins, one of our in season acquisitions, score a goal. Hossa played one heck of a game, and so did Toews. In fact, you can probably name a handful more. The Hawks took care of home ice in convincing fashion. I don’t want to give them any hope, so another strong effort on Tuesday would be nice to see.
Some other business that needs to be taken care of at some point is Ribiero. He took a cheap shot at Shaw and got away with it… for now. I look forward to giving him some payback before it’s all said and done.
This was definitely a proper way to begin this week. It was a tough loss on Friday to end last week, but we’re off on the right foot now. I’m feeling a lot more confident after this one, but still can’t take these guys for granted. Another effort like this one, and we’re heading back to Nashville up 3-1. Do we really have to go back?

Shaw grabbed Ribiero’s glove on the way out. He deserved that shot and the Hawks could have gotten a penalty for that. We don’t need to participate in that nonsense to win. It just fires up the other team most of the time anyway.
Good WIN!
JEFFK
Either way, it was a cheap shot. Ribiero will get his sooner or later. If not in this series, to your point, then next year. File that one away…
LD#19
Hawks go after Ribiero and they’re going after Kane! They give a shit about Shaw. You really want that???
bullwinkle
good game all around. still got outshot. need to do something about that. ‘specially at home. and i certainly do not think all of the knocks about the defense should be pointed at rosival. the rest of the d-men share the ice with questionable moves, or lack thereof.

This has nothing to do with the Hawks, but…
Da Bears should draft Garrett Grayson in the second or third round next week.
QB rating over 171 last year at Colorado State with 9.8 yards per attempt.
John Gruden called him the dark horse QB in this year’s draft and said he is the smartest QB has ever worked with (albeit only for an afternoon or two or three). Gruden, however, does know something about football whereas I don’t know much.
JEFFK
I’ll take him! First I’m hearing of him, but anybody not named Jay Cutler works for me. Maybe the QB of the future???
MK
Seems like coach Q is always making the right moves, and even when they dont work, at least he is willing to try shaking things up. He knows how much talent there is on this Hawks team. He knows the time is now. If someone is not performing as they should, Q will get someone in there who will.
The top line of Toews, Hossa, and Saad carried the Hawks 2nite, along with a great goal by desjardins and darling being a wall. I look for the richards, kane, versteeg line to get some points tonight. A possible carcillo sighting to say hi to ribiero? Either way, GO HAWKS!!!
