October 5, 2023: Week 5 Preview Bears at Commanders

posted in: Bears | 0

I want to believe the Bears can win tonight in Washington… I really do. To go almost an entire calendar year without a win is not easy to accomplish, so hey, congrats to us! As a die-hard fan, you always want, and most of the time, believe, that your team can win. Truth is, there is only one winner out of 32 teams every year in the NFL. That’s OK though. I’m not asking for a Super Bowl win today. All I’m asking for is ONE FRICKING WIN! You know, you need to win once in a while… to keep your fans going. It’s like, we’re stranded in Death Valley right now, looking for one single ounce of water to quench our thirst, to keep us alive. Then, maybe we can pull ourselves off the ground, and begin to slowly walk again. I’m not asking for much here. Dammit, we should have won last Sunday…

Putting another gut-punch loss behind us is something that I’ve gotten all too familiar with. Still, nothing can top what happened to us in Week 1 this year; that one brought me crashing down to earth in instant fashion. That ship hasn’t left the ground since then, so not a whole lot lower I could go. But have no fear… these Bears are creative; they started digging a hole, and pushed us down this hole last Sunday; that hurt a bit. I really don’t know how else to describe what is going on right now in Chicago. We’ve put on our big boy pants, we’ve hiked them up, we’ve tightened our belts, we’re took off our shirts and have wrapped them around our heads, our shoes, tossed to the side. We are not in good condition right now. We… desperately… need… a… win.

Don’t tell me about no F-ing draft picks please! I know, I do it myself; I have to… to survive. To give me something that makes what is currently happening a little less worse. I don’t know about you, but it’s not helping. I want to walk into work next week, or in the case of this Thursday nighter, Friday, after a Bears win. It has literally been almost a year since I’ve been able to do that. Yeah, I’ll never stop cheering for our boys; I’ll never stop wearing my Bears gear, but come on… give us something huh?

OK, to the game… Washington is favored by 6 points, which honestly, feels a little bit low. They have a pretty good D line and are coached by an ex-Bears coach who was sent packing for all intensive purposes. They are coming off a close loss to their division rival Eagles, and are at home, on primetime, in front of their fans, who are extremely happy that their owner is no longer around. The Bears continue to struggle with protecting Fields consistently, have a defense that continues to lose starters by the week, a coach who everybody wants fired, and are currently on a 14 game losing streak. Any questions?

Final Score Prediction: Commanders 34 Bears 17

Ace in the Hole: Roschon Johnson scores his first career TD

I know, my reverse psychology didn’t work last week, but I’m not going to stop trying, OK! I went to the game last week in an effort to help bring the W; maybe I don’t watch this week?!?! Drastic times call for drastic measures, although unless I was locked up without access to TV/radio/internet, not watching the Bears is a really slim possibility. Things do come up, but… yeah, I’ll be listening/watching this evening, hoping, rooting… maybe betting on the Commanders will get it done? So I personally, literally have to pay for a Bears W?!?! Hey, whatever it takes, right? Bear Down!!!
