Tuesday brought us the start of another MLB Postseason. Yes, the Cubs came up short, and the Sox, well, let’s not talk about the Sox, but I’m still interested. Besides the fact that I’ll be betting on some of the games, it is baseball, and I’m not so pissed about the Cubs this year that I don’t want to watch baseball for a while, so… yeah, looking forward to it.
First thing to note is the absence of another team; the St. Louis Cardinals are not in the playoffs, and for that, I am thankful. They are the #1 team I do not want to see win another World Series; this year, I don’t have to worry about that… nice! Let’s think about some other teams that I dislike… The Dodgers are one; definitely don’t want to see them win again. It’s tough to not like guys like Mookie and Freddie; they are awesome, but they play for the wrong team, sorry. The Brewers… how can I forget about our neighbors to the north. Definitely don’t want them to win, although… they do meet a condition that I normally root for: they have NEVER won, so… part of me wouldn’t be upset if they did pull it off. Still, on that side of the NL bracket, have to root for the D-backs, although there was that year when they swept us a playoff meeting, so… On the other side of the NL sits the best team in baseball, the Atlanta Braves: don’t want them to win. Part of the reason is because they’re too good for their own good and need to come crashing down to earth, and the other part is what they did to the Cubs that last week of the season; screw them. The Marlins… ha! You’re kidding right? I hope they burn in hell; 2016 has made a lot of pain better, but that 2003 year… yeah, if one thing sticks… So, guess that leaves the Phillies coming out of the NL; do I have reasons to hate the Phils? The Philly fans are jags from what I hear, but… they have Schwarby and Castellanos! Love those two guys. I like Wheeler and Nola; maybe Aaron will be in a Cubs uniform next year? Bryce is OK; like Trea Turner too. Yeah, I’m OK with the Phillies making the World Series.
How about on the other side of the MLB; lot less hate for that side of the league, but let’s just rule out the Houston Astros right out of the gate. Yes, I was happy for Dusty that they won last year, and all of their cheating didn’t impact my team, but now, they must lose. The Rays… sucks to play in Tampa in front of a whole lot of empty seats. Heard they were building a new stadium for them? Anyways, they’re kind of always good, but never good enough, and even though they haven’t won, they haven’t been around long enough to really suffer, and with not a whole hell of a lot of die hard fans… they’ve got to wait a long time. The other teams are fine. Baltimore, Texas, Minnesota, and Toronto are all perfectly fine with me. Lot more wide open in the AL; let me think… who lost me the most money this year? Haha. If I had to pick one coming out of the AL, it would have to be the Orioles. Young squad, going from worst to first in a few years with one of the lowest payrolls in baseball… yeah, I’m good with that.
Baltimore Orioles vs Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series; that would be enjoyable. If I had to pick one team to win it all… coin toss I guess, but lean Orioles? Better get that World Series before you have to start breaking that team up after those rookie contracts expire… haha. Looking forward to an exciting playoff season; looking more forward to the Cubs back being a part of the proceedings. Enjoy the postseason!
