Another Monday Night Football game, another ticket cashed. Yes, I also had the Bucs, who were a big dud, but I had 2.5x on the Bengals, both -2 and ML. I really felt confident about them; I was thinking about putting more money on them. The whole Burrow injury thing… I knew he’d be playing. He certainly did NOT look 100%, but… this was the ultimate revenge game, with most of the same parties in place from the Super Bowl matchup which saw the Rams beating the Bengals. I just knew Cincy would be up for this one, and they were… barely. In fact, if you got the line late at -3, the late TD caused a push; thankfully I was on it earlier.
I’ve been on the recovery road with my betting account. After building it up from $3 to over $60, I went on a bad losing streak. It was like I couldn’t pick one single winner; it was bad… really bad. But the king returned… I’m talking about the NFL of course, and helped give me a boost in the arm. With my account back down towards single digits, I needed it. Now, we’re almost back to our high water mark. The MLB playoffs are coming, and the NFL is just getting in full swing. Exciting times. However, now that I’ve been hotter, I just wonder when Papa Vegas will smack me down next.
I love the revenge angle, but it isn’t always TRUE revenge. I think you need to have the same main players. Take for example this Thursday Night’s game. The Packers welcome the Lions to Lambeau; the Lions were the team that had nothing to play for in last year’s season finale, yet still ended the Packers season. Sure, the fans are out for some payback, but… the main player, Aaron Rodgers, is no longer around; does Jordan Love by default take on this responsibility? I guess the rest of the players are the same; is this a TRUE revenge game? It’s certainly different than a Super Bowl rematch, but it’s kind of like a playoff rematch. I was looking at some more examples of this from last year’s postseason… Niners Eagles coming soon; Eagles Giants of course. The fans will always be aware of this, but will the players really take this to heart?
The immediate question will be answered in the very next Primetime NFL game on Thursday night. I was really feeling confident about the Lions, but now am second guessing myself; maybe I’m outthinking it. Maybe I can/will never think straight on a game involving the Packers. The whole betting with the heart and not the head thing. With all the bonus bets coming my way in Draft Kings, it’ll be tough to stay away; maybe I’ll tread lightly.
OK, well, I will enjoy this ride while I’m on it. Keeping my unit bets the same over time help prevent against a big fall. It would take a prolonged losing streak to get my balance back down. I’m certainly not immune to those, but… as long as I’m not chasing with half of my account, like I did in my other lifetime, I should be OK. OK, enough about this… I was really just trying to avoid talking about how things have been going in Atlanta…
