MNF was very very good to me this week… When the lights shine the brightest, the scripting is the finest. We’re not only going to get just 1 Monday Night Football game every week, but now, two! This is insane. The Panthers faced the Saints, followed an hour later, by the Browns vs the Steelers. Let’s review.
I was locked in on the Steelers for a while, with two separate money line bets. However, since we did have this bonus game, I had to bet it, right? And since it’s a primetime game, going opposite is usually a pretty good strategy. There’s no way the Panthers would beat the Saints, which is why the play was Carolina. Most people probably pushed, but not this guy. Yeah, I had one of my moments of clarity, and bought the hook for this tilt; when I coupled that with the free boost that I had, I still was getting plus money. When the game landed right on the number, I smiled; once in a while, I surprise myself.
The second game was pretty crazy. You see that Chubb injury? Brutal. They wouldn’t even show the replay on air, but when you heard the crowd’s reaction to the replay in the stadium, you knew it had to be bad. It was… very bad. It wasn’t quite a bone poking through the pant leg, but a knee bending the wrong way has to be up there. Poor Chubb. I wish the best for him, while at the same time, thank myself for not drafting him this year in my fantasy leagues. Yes, the beat goes on. I was amazed when I heard the stat about the Steelers at home on MNF, and no, I did NOT know about this before I placed my wager. But 20 in a row at home on MNF?!?! That’s some kind of Monday Night magic, or is it? I call it the Pittsburgh Mafia Magic. Come on… after their win against the Brownies, 21 in a row on MNF at home?!?! Who does that? But hey, don’t get me wrong… I’m not complaining; I’ll never complain when I’m on the right side of it, because God knows I’ve been on the wrong side.
Yeah, a MNF sweep brought me back closer to where I had built my balance up to. I did take advantage of a reload bonus and dipped into my $250 profit; I put $50 back in my account to give myself a little more flexibility in the biggest time of year for gambling. Yes, this is just one other reason why the NFL is king, although betting on college football is right up there too. The Bears may have ended Week 2 with a thud, but my account got a nice little boost thanks to the Monday night results.
Back to the grind for Week 3. Looking ahead, call me crazy, but I really like the Bears plus the points in KC; I also like the other team in the division the Lions over the Falcons. My two early leans… more to come. Good luck!
