Check in time at the ol’ Draft Kings account. I do still have a balance, right? Last time we talked, I had finally made it over $20; I was so happy. And then… I went on a losing streak; of course I did. I raise up my bets and take a bath. Next thing you know, I was back under $10; gotta love it.
I have to admit, I was bummed. My system was failing me. This is how it kind of went. If there was a “system play” that was 10-3, let’s just say I had all 3 losses; sure, I had a couple wins too, but every time that range lost, I was on it. Doesn’t sound like too great of a system. Honestly, after last weekend, I took a step back. Keeping up with this was taking too much time, time that I didn’t have, at least not consistently. Now what?
Well, back to the grindstone, that’s what. And you know what? I’m back over $20 again. Yes, you have to love the continuing ride of my balance up and down, up and down, and… up?!?! Well, I’m back on the upswing and that makes me happy. I did get to input more data into my system this weekend, which helped me in my comeback; I can’t just toss that angle away. Like I said though, there is no one way to win; you can’t put all your eggs in one basket. The one thing that cost me during my losing streak was great opposing pitchers, which bucked the system I guess; something to file it away in the cesspool that is my mind. You need to consider everything, even bets that are NOT just picking winners.
Yes, I dipped back into picking a home run hitter, and thanks to Ian Happ on Saturday vs Wainwright, I hit again. I was on Happy the last time he faced Waino in London, and I was on him again; bam! This Happ HR put that cherry on top of another Cubs victory over the Cards, which was the 8th in a row btw. Thank you Ian! I did have Polar Bear too, but that didn’t work out; still came out ahead on the HR bets. So yeah, have to consider all options when making a play, even over/unders, which I rarely play. We march on…
My next milestone is $100, although maybe I should celebrate when I make $50; that’s right, I said when, not if… haha. It’s funny how these streaks work. When I hit that down turn, my confidence was gone; now that I’m on the upturn again, my confidence is back. The key is not avoiding the down turns; they are inevitable. The key is when all the dust settles, the upturns equate to more $ than the downturns. So yes, a profit at the end of the day, which is where I’m sitting, again, right now. Not by much, but my units are still low, only $2, and, and… it’s still a profit, regardless of how much.
We still have another month and a half of dedicated baseball plays until… yeah, it’s almost here; the NFL is almost back. That sounds fun doesn’t it. Let’s go!!!
