I haven’t yelled that much at the TV this year watching the Cubs. First off, I haven’t watched as much as I normally do. Secondly, haven’t really been pumped about the Cubs’ chances this year; I was disappointed about the half-hearted offseason, and of course, the unfulfilled promise of building this team back up to the playoff level that we had and destroyed a few years back. Anyways, I watched the 2 games vs the Sox, and if those felt a little more important, than let me tell you about the bloody Cardinals…
It’s no secret; I hate the Cardinals. On Thursday night in St. Louis, they reminded me why I hate them. If you haven’t seen it, Happ’s backswing hit Willson in the helmet, and cut him… pretty bad. Blood was coming out, and he couldn’t remain in the game. Damn. My hate for the Cardinals doesn’t make me happy that THIS happened, especially against our boy Willson. Poor Willson… heading to what he thought was a world-class organization only to find out what a fraud they are, wanting to put the blame on him for their underperforming season. Anyways, Happy felt bad too; they hugged it out as Willson left the game. What came next is why I hate these birds…
They think they know what’s best. They think they’re the authority on baseball. Their fans think they are the most knowledgeable fans in the game. Well, F them. Mikolas, potentially not the sharpest knife in the drawer, buzzed Happ up and in with a heater on the very next pitch; I was pissed, but… OK. I don’t agree with it; what Happ did was unintentional, but OK… fine… take your one pitch, get it out of your system, but noooo… that wasn’t enough. The very next pitch hits Happ; I started screaming at the TV. I told my son… this is why I hate these assholes. It wouldn’t surprise me if he got this instruction from his manager; obviously if you heard the St. Louis broadcast of the event, they condoned it; they thought it was appropriate. I forgot, the Cardinals are the baseball police too; what an F’n joke. But maybe Mikolas just wanted to be THAT guy… Well, I do know some people, besides Cubs fans, who thought it was BS: the umpires. They threw his ass out of the game along with his manager, in the first inning, of a series that could potentially determine the future of your season. Tough, players policing the game themselves move? No, stupid ass move. Bye Bye sucker!
The Cubs did exactly what they should have done next; pounded the ever-living shit out these underachievers. They didn’t wait, scoring 3 in the first after this whole series of events. They continued to pour it on. A 10-3 victory to start the 4 game set down in shitsville. Beautiful! What’s next?
Well, that whole trade deadline thing is looming… I haven’t been fully onboard all season, basically because of the way this team was built… not “all in” and ready to sell at the deadline. I want to jump two feet onboard, but… if they sell… I feel like I’d kind of be back where I was… I’m excited right now about the Cubs for the first time in a while; don’t ruin it Jed. Buy, buy, buy… and sweep these dirty ass birds too! Go Cubs!!!
