I love it when I see/hear something that I did not know, something, that when I see it, warms my heart, makes my balls tingle… a day brightener if you may. Well, it happened again, and this was an extra special one. Did you know that the St. Louis Cardinals have the worst record in the National League? Holy shit!
Talk about bringing a smile to my face from ear to ear. Seeing them get booed off the field after their latest loss… pump this into my veins. What, the “best fans in baseball” booing their team? Never that… what a joke. The Cardinal “I’m better than everybody else” fans are same as any others throughout sports; don’t ever get it twisted. And yeah, check if you can’t believe it. At 10-21, they are at the bottom of the National League. It’s like Christmas in May for God’s sake.
I know, I know… the season is very young, but still. With that roster, with those “future Hall of Famers”, with their newly acquired stud catcher (just wait until he plays against us… ). Maybe that’s what has been missing thus far for St. Louis… the annual beating of their rivals to the north, my Chicago Cubs. Maybe that will springboard them. Maybe not. Maybe, although it does seem like they are in contention every year, just maybe, they are annually overrated at the same time? You just shouldn’t assume your team will be good year in year out; that’s not how it SHOULD work… but it can. And for teams with the money, like my Chicago Cubs, it SHOULD work like that. Yet, the Cubs, have fielded a severely average team again this year, managed by a severely average skipper.
To point the dirty finger at ourselves in the mirror for a minute, the Cubs have been coming back down to earth lately… thanks to the Marlins and Nationals… huh? Don’t they suck? Yeah, they do, but… the Cubs have been taking it on the chin from them. It’s not surprising. I wanted to be excited about the Cubs surprise start, but the realistic Cubs fan in me, if there is such a thing, wasn’t buying it quite yet; I was hoping to be wrong. At 15-15, the Cubs are back at 500, which is probably where they’ll be hovering most of the year; that’s not a horrible thing, just a really bad thing for a team whose management/ownership has chosen to NOT use all the assets available to make it better. We’ve CHOSEN to be average, so… this is what you get.
That average label is sure better than those dead birds… haha. Yeah, let me get back to my gloating in the sun over the Cardinals shitty record. Didn’t I just talk about people like that, and how I hate them? No, no… please read it carefully. I’ve hated the Cardinals since I was a kid; I always talk shit about them. So yeah, for me to celebrate their horrible record at this point in the season, that’s perfectly fine. In fact, they have the same record as the other baseball team in Chicago. But hey, the White Sox are undefeated in May… finally deciding to win a series in 2023… bravo Sox. Stay focused… stay… focused.
Thank you St. Louis Cardinals for providing a ray of sunshine in my life. Thank you for being so terrible, for underperforming so horribly in this first 20% of the season. I wish you many more losses, and nothing but the worst from here on out. OK, I’m done… haha.
