April 6, 2023: Two Steps Back

posted in: Bulls | 0

In typical Bulls 2022-2023 season fashion, after a huge comeback victory against the Grizzlies on Sunday, the Bulls proceeded to take two steps back, losing to the Hawks at the UC without Trae Young, and then on the road to the Bucks without Giannis. I love the Bulls, but there are days, when I literally hate THIS team.

I probably sound like a broken record at this point. This team does not show maximum effort. Just watch Zach on defense; he jogs around, he doesn’t chase after loose balls… he’s lazy. This is one of my biggest issues with Zach, and for that matter, the whole team. It’s like they think they’re better than they are; I don’t know. We’re losing at home to a Hawks team that is down their best player, fighting for a better play-in seed. Yes, the Bulls did make the playoffs; we’re currently sitting in the 10th seed. If it was up to me, that wouldn’t even count as a playoff berth. You’re opening up the playoffs to 20 out of 30 teams… what’s the purpose of the regular season then? Sure, the play-in tournament provides some excitement, for undeserving teams and their fans. Yes, I’m talking about myself and the Bulls too.

Who really thinks the Bulls will win the play-in game? There’s no way, yet, based on the way the season has went, they may very well win a game… or two… who really can tell with these guys? The inconsistent performance has been a quality of this team all season long. This is something we see not only from game to game, but within each and every game. Yet, this is the NBA today. Teams go down big, then come back; they go up big, and blow the lead. There are multiple runs in each direction in each game by each team. The Bulls are 100% this. Is there a way to rank how much better they fit this description than any other team?

Who do we want to see? The Hawks again? The Raptors? Honestly, I’d pick either of those teams over us, if I was a betting man… Yes, the Bulls, because of their knee jerk ups and downs, are almost impossible to bet on… or against for that matter. When it comes to my teams, there’s already enough stress on the line, without adding monetary concerns. I’ll be watching the game, but first, two more meaningless games to go…. unless you’re in the West, where there are spots and seeds up for grabs; it’ll be an interesting finish. Once the smoke clears, we’ll have our play in games, and then our playoff series matchups. It’s great that the Bulls are in it… if only for a game. Go Bulls!!!
