In the wonderful world of Draft Kings, there is nothing off limits. The NFL playoffs kicked it off; the NBA and college basketball followed it up. The NHL season is still going on; the MLB has started now. Those are the big 4; plenty of experience betting on football and basketball. Baseball… not so much, although I’ve been dabbling already. Hockey… almost never, yet, I’ve been doing well on the ice the last couple weeks. And now the Masters?!?! I’ve never bet on golf before… until now.
This guy at work has bet on it before; he’s picked winners, so… I’m riding with him this year. Nothing major, just a few bucks here and there on some dudes to win The Masters. Most of these guys I’ve never heard of. Xander Schauffele, Tony Finau, Brian Harman, Justin Rose, Sung-Jae Im, Viktor Hovland, Sam Burns, Max Homa, Jason Kokrak, and Will Zalatoris all got a piece. I bit on the Tiger top 20 finish boost also. Remember, betting should be fun too!!! It’s not fun when you’re losing money; I don’t know anything about that… Plenty of wins AND losses, but so far… I’ve taken out my initial “investment”, and now, I’ve taken out $200… back to my bank account. So we’re winning… and still have some money left in the account to have some “fun”.
I remember when I was a kid, I thought golf was boring; it was probably because I didn’t play golf back then. I did play plenty of mini-golf; loved it. And then as I got a little older, finally hit the golf course with my dad and brother; it was fun. We don’t go that often; still try to get a round or two in per year… hoping to get back to a couple days away at some point. And now, since I’ve played, and still dabble, I don’t mind watching it on TV. It’s kind of peaceful… like when I’m looking for my ball in the rough, finding all kinds of other golf balls… as long as there’s nobody pressing behind us. Walking outdoors, in the sun, with a cigar in my hand, and a beer in the cart, hanging with my father, brother, brother in law… yeah, golf is fun. Sometimes I’ll hit a decent shot too…
And now, I have some money on it… just like anything else, it will make it that much more interesting, especially if one of my guys is in the hunt. Yelling at some random dude on TV for missing a putt? Maybe…haha. I like the whole FanDuel commercial, with the spending limits, etc… the tools that are supposed to keep this fun, and not where you’re betting your mortgage on it. Certainly feel like “backing the truck” up for some bets, but it’s a lot less painful when you lose a “sure thing” and only lose $20. Now I need to get back to looking at the NHL… haha.
