March 28, 2023: The Pat Bev Era

Kind of laughed about this, because Patrick Beverley is who he is, meaning, not a superstar by any stretch of the imagination, however, maybe there is something to be said for “The Pat Bev Era”. The Bulls are 10-6 since his addition, which has inched the Bulls up the standings in the East. They still sit only in the 10 seed currently, so not sure how much we should be talking about it, but… the Bulls have been playing better, in general, since we got the new “kid from Chicago”. Are we ready to take the next step?

The Bulls will welcome the Lakers, who are just about in the same spot as us out West, to the UC on Wednesday night. The Bulls gave us some good feels when they beat the Lakers in LA in the game LeBron returned to action on Sunday afternoon in LA; sure, the Bulls, in 2022-2023 Bulls fashion, went out and got slammed by the Clippers the following game, but hey, at least we beat the Lakers. Speaking about Pat Bev, he provided a moment in that Lakers game that will forever be cherished. You know what I’m talking about… the “too small” gesture he made to LeBlame after he made a shot over him in the post. Pump it into my veins! So good… so, so good. LeBum is definitely not interested in playing defense any more, so yeah, wasn’t like it was hard to do, but still… to see him do that to him after he made the shot over him… lovely. Speaking about that guy… he came off the bench in his first game back. Why? Well, I think Stacey hit the nail on the head on that one… to get an ovation when he came into the game of course. That guy is always looking for attention let me tell you. Will he take that personally and do something about it when he comes into the house that Mike built on Wednesday night? Knowing the cloth he is cut from, probably not.

The Bulls still have a chance to inch up the standings a little further, which would help our chances at advancing in the playoffs. Honestly, every game from here on out should be played like a playoff game; the urgency has to be there, something that I still don’t see on a consistent basis from this team. They are still so, so frustrating to watch. Are we to believe that this team which has been so inconsistent all year long will finally become consistent, and string together a winning stretch of basketball that will push us along in the postseason? I’m guessing not, but.. Pat Bev… THIS could be the time where his addition becomes more valuable than ever. Between Zach’s decision making and DD’s midrange percentage decline, we look to others; sure, Vooch is Vooch, but maybe Beverly will be that guy that helps gives us an edge. We know he’s not all there, and likes to mix it up, but maybe that’s exactly what we need. Here’s hoping…

So welcome to Chicago Lebron, the place where that “ghost you’re chasing” made his bones. WE all know the answer to that stupid GOAT discussion. Still, besides the Bulls winning, nothing is better than watching you fail. Wednesday night provides another opportunity for both to be true during the same game. Let’s keep it rolling Bulls, and maybe, just maybe we can have another “too small” moment between Pat Bev and LeWhine. Go Bulls!!!
