March 24, 2023: Explain This

So, about that truck I was backing up on the UCLA game… Sorry if I didn’t predict that UCLA would go without a FG for 11 minutes in the 2nd half. Down 10 with a little more than 2 minutes left, game over right? Not quite. UCLA finally woke up and came storming back to take a 1 point lead with 12 seconds to go; when Amari Bailey hit that trey, my wife and I were going nuts… thought we’d wake my son for sure. It was short lived. Gonzaga comes down court and takes a three pointer from the logo; I was so happy. What in the hell is that guy doing? It went in… WTF! UCLA came down turned it over, and yet, still had a chance to send this game to OT after a Zags FT miss. It wasn’t meant to be. A game I felt so sure on… maybe my heart got a little bit too much in this one; this has been a common downfall for me over the years. I took my biggest loss on this game; ouch.

It could have been worse; remember I was talking about putting my whole account on this game? Thankfully I came down a bit. I did have some in game bets on UCLA though… I did bet on the Zags at half and placed a larger than normal wager on UCLA at +5.5 in game, so… all in all, it boiled down to the 7 unit hit I had originally signed up for. The crazy thing, is I won every other game that night. Yes, I was on Kansas State, UCONN, and FAU. So, a losing 3-1 night… somebody explain this to me. Easy: money management… if I had went evenly across the board, I’m up 2 units instead of down 4 units. Frustration… but wait, there’s more.

Enter Friday evening. I had San Diego St, Miami, Princeton, and Creighton; yep, another 3-1 night. A winning night right? Well… an even night; yes, frustration x2. It was the Bama game… I was on the Aztecs plus that 7.5, but I was on Bama bigger on the ML with my in game bets and a parlay. What a bust. Glad I didn’t screw up my Miami ML play betting on Houston in game… Princeton missed a free throw to cost me a push, and Texas… I should have backed up the truck on that game; felt really confident on that one. I did parlay them with the Bulls (yeah, the Chicago Bulls) and won a little to make up for my Bama losses. Up a bit on the evening… there’s only 7 more games to go in this crazy, wide open tourney.

I’ve been hot though… if I stick to my original plays, and make them even units across the board, I should be able to end the madness on a winning note right? OR… am I bound to come back down to earth after going 6-2 in the Sweet Sixteen? Who knows. How can you not like Kansas State? I’m not sure I can get away from that one. Love UCONN, although is that my heart talking, wanting them to pay back the Zags for that painful loss? Probably… maybe I can get away from that one? I do like the Aztecs over Creighton. As far as Texas and Miami… whew… what a game. The winner probably wins the National Championship, so… yeah, buckle up. Guess I’m leaning taking the points with the Canes.

The Madness has lived up to its name this year. No #1 seeds in the Elite Eight!!! This is insane. If I had to figure out how my money has been throughout, I’m guessing I’d be up a bit… I’d be up a lot more if I stayed away from the in game bets. It has been my friend, but man… it’s always kicked my ass; I guess I can say that about betting in general. It’s been a ride, and yes, I’m down from my high point, but I’m still up… guess I can’t really complain that much, right? Good luck the rest of the tourney…
