March 20, 2023: While I Was Dancing

posted in: Bulls | 0

Once March Madness rolled around, I turned my attention off the Bulls; I zeroed in on the NCAA tourney. While I was dancing, the Bulls have been doing their thing; this continued on Monday night in Philly. Yes, that’s no typo; the Bulls won again in Philadelphia, a house of horrors over the recent years, and this time, it WAS with Embiid, well, at least for regulation and the first OT before fouling out. It was a gutty effort, which meant the Bulls’ third win in a row. Maybe I should not watch the Bulls more often…

The first of this 3 game winning streak came at home against the Timberwolves in 2OT. The next one was over the Heat, again at the UC. The third was this one against the 76ers, which was the only one of out this trio that I actually tuned in for. An up to date look at the standings, show the Bulls in the 10 spot, 2 games ahead of the Wizards, with 11 games to play; the Bulls are zeroing in on that play-in game. Hey, it’s better than NOT making the playoffs, right?

Listening and watching the Bulls this year has been tough. The guys seemingly talk about the same stuff game in game out; we see the Bulls do the same things each game. It’s all added up to an under 500 season thus far, even after this 3 game winning streak. Two steps forward, two steps back; the dance continues. I’ve grown tired of it, but it was fun watching again on Monday night. The Bulls are my squad; frustrated or not, I’m going to follow them, support them, cheer for them. Seeing the Bulls win a game will never get old; I will never take it for granted, especially living through the Tim Floyd era… Just remember, things could always be worse.

The Sixers played like shit. Taking nothing away from our performance, but man did Philly look bad. They’re the 3rd best team in the East. Embiid is Embiid, no doubt, but Harden… my God does he look washed. They’ve got some other nice players, including Maxey, but it certainly feels like an Embiid or bust situation for them. I would take the Bucks and Celtics over them, and also the Cavs and the Knicks to be honest. I still don’t think the Bulls could beat them in a playoff series; maybe we’ll find out… hopefully I’m wrong. We will find out how we fare against them again in the regular season come Wednesday night at the UC.

So yeah, it looks like we WILL actually see playoffs in this rough Chicago sports year. It’s not exactly what we expected for our Bulls this year, but it’s more than any of our other teams delivered to us. And you know what they say… get in and anything can happen; sounds kind of like this tourney that I’ve been focused on has been going. Wow… fun times on the bball court. Keep it rolling Bulls.
