March 4, 2023: The Comeback

It’s been a while since I’ve been here… a week behind in my blog. Life gets busy around here. It’s time to catch up on my “daily” posts; how do I do that? Let the comeback begin!

“The Comeback”… that’s funny. Wasn’t that what Derrick Rose titled his battle back from injury? There was like a series of commercials, etc. Adidas was all in with D Rose, as were we; Adidas ended up disappointed… so did we. That first Derrick Rose shoe was nice; I bought them for my son, who was born the month it all changed for Derrick. He was only a baby, dressed up in his Bulls gear, that fateful day against the 76ers. It was one of the most devastating injuries in Chicago sports history. Little did we know, he would never be the same; the Bulls would never complete that mission to bring home #7… they’re still on that mission. But yeah, Derrick’s comeback really wasn’t all that, but what about mine?

How do I comeback? Well, I can’t really talk about current events; there has been some things that have happened since we last talked. I’ll get to them as we get current. But how do I get current without talking about current events? We’ve been here before; this isn’t going to be that hard, right? I can pretty much just go on and on about any subject, which makes it easy. Sure, we may stray away from Chicago sports as we ramble on, or maybe I should go into the part of my brain that remembers everything about Chicago sports; it’s funny how that doesn’t apply to the rest of my life, meaning, I can’t recall what I did yesterday sometimes, but ask me about the 1985 Bears, the 1991 Bulls, the 2010 Hawks, or the 2016 Cubs, and I got you. It’s always fun to talk about the glory days; that’ll never get old.

There has been a list on my mind lately, a couple of them actually. The one I remember this second is the most annoying Bulls of all-time; I thank (spoiler alert!) Zach Lavine for bringing this to the forefront of my brain. Yeah, I know he’s been doing pretty well lately from a points per game perspective. But every time I watch him play… OK, I’m not going to spoil it. He has company though; one guy that I just saw on TV recently. There is the guy who I mentioned above who’ll be on this list, for different reasons than the other guys. Maybe a guy from back in my childhood? Then we’ll wrap it up with someone who robbed us blind. Yeah, I need to write this finally; I think we’ll get to that next.

Well then, I guess it’s time to get on with it; I don’t have that much time to complete my comeback. Let’s see how far we can get. I’ll be back soon… I always am.
