It’s almost time… for the biggest fixed game of the year. Of course, we’re talking Super Bowl; there’s been some talk about scripting in the NFL lately, not sure if you’ve heard… doubt you believe it. There are many people who come out and say how ridiculous the idea is. I’m not one of THOSE people. By THOSE people, I mean those who think it’s ridiculous. There IS some merit to it. I’m not going to say it’s full out WWE stuff, but… there are components of it, no doubt in my mind. This brings us to my Super Bowl pick.
Who knows how the script will play out on Sunday; hopefully, it will play out in a way where we really can’t tell… those are the best games of them all. The Eagles Chiefs matchup is a dynamite one honestly. Both of these teams are really good. It is for these reasons that I will continue to tread lightly; it comes down to this though. In a battle of evenly matched teams, I’m going to look at a few factors. First one: who has the better coach? Nothing against the Eagles dude, and that stupid ass rugby running formation in short yardage, but Andy Reid… There are not many coaches in today’s game that I would give the advantage to over Andy. In this particular scenario, when he’s been given an extra week to prepare… If the Chiefs do lose, I’m sure it won’t be because they were outcoached.
Second factor: who has the better QB? Well, I think Jalen Hurts had a dynamite year; I’m excited by this, because I see a potential path for Fields to take. Their running ability is very similar; that’s where the comparisons end at this time. But, Fields DOES have a big arm, and if/when he has the weapons, maybe he can catch up to Hurts in that category; hopefully he can surpass Jalen and everybody else while we’re at it. But… the NFL MVP was announced yesterday, and that guy, is Patrick Mahomes. I’m not stupid enough to compare him to Brady, Montana, Bradshaw, etc, etc… and why is that? That is because he only has ONE Super Bowl. If he wants to be in that upper echelon of all-time QBs, he needs to stack the rings. With Burrow, Allen, Herbert all in the AFC… there is no guarantee this is a yearly type thing for the Chiefs. They need to win when they have the chance. Regardless of all of this, right now, Mahomes is the better QB.
Third factor: What is the most dynamic component, matchup, etc, in this game? We can talk defense; the Eagles D is legit… leading the league in sacks this year, looking very impressive in the playoffs thus far. The Chiefs D is no slouch either; they’ll need to be on their game to contain all the options on that Eagles offense, none more important than Hurts when he’s out of the pocket. The main weapons on both offenses are the QBs; we’ve already talked about them. But what is the one thing that is better than everything else on the field? I’ll argue it’s Mahomes to Kelce. There is NOTHING more lethal than that, on either team, on either side of the ball. Do you double/triple team Travis? Do you let him do his damage and shut everybody else down? That connection between Mahomes and Kelce… good luck.
So, if you haven’t guessed by now, I’m on the Chiefs. Again, treading lightly no doubt, throwing in a parlay prop bet with Gainwell over 19.5 yards rushing, Pacheco over 49.5 yards rushing, McKinnon over 24.5 yards receiving, and Kelce any time TD… add in the squares… yeah, we got a party. And oh yeah, live in game betting?!?! Good luck everybody; enjoy!
