January 15, 2023: Stay Golden

“Stay Golden Pony Boy”… of course this is from The Outsiders; of course I remember this from Step Brothers… haha. A quick look online says it means “to continue to be good no matter the situation and always look for the right thing to do in any circumstance”… doesn’t exactly make a whole lot of sense when it was used in Step Brothers, but don’t think it was meant to; it was funny as hell though. Love that movie. For today’s entry, I’m thinking about the Bulls… you know, “Golden”, they just beat the Golden State Warriors.

Yeah, the Bulls continued their interesting, frustrating, inconsistent performance on Sunday, without DD, beating the Warriors at the UC easily 132-118. There were some serious runs both ways, but at the end, the Bulls prevailed; the Warriors do suck on the road though. Stacey and Adam were talking about that a bit, saying how GS believes they can beat anybody on their home court, and can sneak one on the road if need be, making them still a threat in the West. They are the defending champs after all. I’m not a fan; only Steve Kerr gives me a reason to root for them. Curry’s OK too… Draymond? Not so much; surprised he was on the court on Sunday and not somewhere stroking LeBron’s ego… Klay Thompson? Yeah, he’s good; would I rather have him or Lavine? Good question; this general question will be part of a blog coming soon. No need to rag on Zach after a W…

Yeah, it was actually Vooch who lead us in this one; color me shocked. He poured in 43 points, tying his career high. Ever since I’ve accepted the fact that Vooch will hoist up treys, it’s been a much more enjoyable experience watching Vooch play. Don’t get me wrong; he still frustrates the hell out of me at times, including in this one, where he looked at a loose ball like he wanted no part of it, but yeah… Vooch is who he is. I know we want more; we always do. Was the trade a good one or not, etc, etc… But Vooch is a really good player; I’m trying to enjoy him for what he is. In this one, he was a mad man, helping the Bulls crush the sad, sad “Road Warriors”.

The Bulls headed off to Paris after this one. You wouldn’t think a Bulls Pistons matchup would make sense to showcase the NBA to the world, but… remember MJ. HE is the one who helped take the NBA global. HE is the reason the Bulls brand is known worldwide, and because of that, remains one of the most popular in the NBA. I would love to be on a plane myself, well, not by myself, with my wife and son, but yeah, heading out to Paris to see the Bulls play. How cool would that be?

How cool would it be for the Bulls to beat a bad team? At 12-35, make no mistake, the Pistons are a bad team. They gave the Bulls a run for their money for a while in Chicago back on 12/30, before the Bulls pulled away. Hopefully the Bulls can dispatch of them on Thursday. 2pm start time btw; get out of work early to watch the boys do work abroad. That’s my plan; Go Bulls!!!
