December 26, 2022: Not Good

Just when I think this team is starting to get things pointed in the right direction… BAM! I’m reminded that they’re really not good. I’m starting to think this isn’t going to change. Those feelings from the losing streak, that had been put at bay thanks to the 3 game winning streak, are bubbling back to the surface. How do you let one of the worst teams in the NBA come into your home and beat you by double digits? It just looked like the Bulls were mentally still sitting around their trees at home; they weren’t ready, and they got smacked. This is unacceptable.

After a game like this, being there in person for this debacle, I’m kind of starting to hate this team. Maybe I’m just worn down… First, the Cubs throwing the towel in on the season before it started; for you Sox fans out there, I don’t need to remind you what a failure this year was. The Bears haven’t won in months. The Blackhawks are the worst team in the NHL. Our hopes were all on the Bulls this year; they’re letting us down too. I’m back to the thinking that this team needs a major shake up; we just can’t add a piece or two. Somebody must go…

The Bulls dug themselves an early hole; it only took them 5 minutes to dig a 17-point hole. How do you let that happen? I see the percentage the Rockets were shooting, and wow; they were on fire, but why? They were on fire because they kept getting wide open shots. Our defense is atrocious. We would give up 133 points in this one, second only to the 150 we gave up in Minnesota about a week ago. There were some confrontations during that one; I wonder about this one.

Well, there wouldn’t have been one at the half, since the Bulls stormed back to take a one point lead heading into the locker room. It was at that very moment I thought the Bulls had this one; I think they thought the same thing. You see, you just can’t take the court and collect the W; hitting a buzzer beater shot to “win the half” doesn’t win you the game. It was Zach Lavine actually, who in 46 seconds, made an alley oop dunk that got us all on our feet, and hit two treys, including the one as time expired. 8 points in that spurt from Zach sent good vibes throughout the UC. Unfortunately, those vibes didn’t last; neither did Zach.

I’m sorry, but if you’re supposed to be the man, and you’re not, then where do you think the attention should go? Outside of those 8 points, Zach only scored 14 other points. He didn’t make a single three pointer besides those two. He was last on the team as far as +/- goes, with -20. He “lead” the effort from our Bulls on this evening; Vooch wasn’t far behind. He was pretty much worthless in this one. How do you let this team beat you?

I don’t think the Bulls would get much for Vooch, going back to the “somebody must go” thought. If you haven’t already, when will you come to the conclusion that the Vooch trade was a major fail on the part of AKME? The signing of Zach is creeping up there too, however, this can be rectified, at least partially. Zach is the guy who has the most trade value on this team; then why trade him? I’m always talking shit about my teams trading our best players. Zach is the best player on this team, no? No. DD is still the best we got; Zach has not surpassed him, like we thought since day 1, but certainly in year 2 of this combo. In fact, it’s almost as if they cannot co-exist successfully on the floor. The Bulls are better when DD and Zach play with 4 other guys, not each other; this is kind of a crazy realization, especially since they both went on that great scoring streak together last year. Now though, if anybody, they do not seem on the same page. Is it the Bulls wanting to push Zach as the man, maybe under pressure from Zach himself? It has to happen organically, and the truth is, DD isn’t done being the man. Zach needs to accept that. We need to accept the fact that Zach may NEVER be the man. And it’s for THAT reason, that I’d be OK trading him.

So a delayed sign and trade of Zach may be what needs to happen; sending Vooch packing wouldn’t be a bad move either. After a game like this, I’m ready to blow it up. The Bulls performance this night was completely unacceptable. Saying goodbye to Zach and Vooch would be admitting to two huge mistakes; holding on to them may just make it worse. What say you AKME? Go Bulls.
