September 25, 2022: Winning is Never Bad

You know the people I hate? Those that say “I feel bad about this win”. They’re dumb asses. I don’t care how it happened, I really don’t… winning is NEVER bad. Well, now that I say it… I do have one example where I did feel bad about a win. Game 1 of the 2012 1st round Eastern Conference playoffs… you know, where Rose got hurt. OK, so let me rephrase then. The only thing that can cause a win to be bad is a catastrophic injury, so I guess if you want to argue that with the Montgomery injury (not the same) then I guess I can get there. Other than that though…

Fields looked bad. There is no other way to state how he played in this one. He said it himself postgame. He knows he has to be better; we know he has to be better. But I’ll say this… getting better at 2-1 feels a whole lot better than getting better at 1-2. It’s the NFL; more so than any other sport, each game matters… each win is critical. I don’t care if we looked like absolute dog shit, if we won, I’m happy. Anyone who is sulking about this Bears win is a fricking idiot, sorry not sorry.

Fields needs to get better. If you’re thinking about if he is or isn’t a franchise QB, or if you’re worried about winning the Super Bowl this year or anytime soon, I hear you… but, neither of these questions will be answered in Week 3 of Year 1 of the Eberflus coaching era. Fields is in Year 2, running a brand new offense. Not making excuses, just stating facts. If Fields can work out the kinks, but the Bears are still winning… I’ll take that all day every day. Sure, at some point, we’ll need those questions answered, whether it’s later this year, next year… whenever. That bridge will be crossed, but not yet… not yet. It ain’t pretty right now, but it doesn’t have to be… Sunday at home vs the Texans was a game the Bears should have won, and they did, period.

Let’s enjoy it, shall we? I mean, the national guys had us as the worst team in the NFL, and now, we’re 2-1 to start the season! Someone called it… that someone would be me. I also predicted that we would beat the Giants next week in New York; it’s possible, no? Who’s the Giants QB? Daniel Jones? Yet, they’re still 2-0; if they beat Dallas on Monday night, they’ll be undefeated! If that happens I’m sure that hype train will be chugging down the tracks in New York, which will be perfect for us honestly. Still think it’s a toss up between us either way.

The Bears are 2-1; let me remind you again. There is not one part of me that is unhappy about this ugly win over the measly Texans at Soldier Field. I’m not stupid… I know the Bears have to get better, a lot better, but we have time. In the meantime, stack those Ws any way we can get them. Bear Down!!!
