Trap game alert. Is that even possible when you’re the Bears right now? It shouldn’t be. There should be no team that we feel should be a push over. Teams feel that way about us, not the opposite, at least not now. Even if we’re talking the winless Houston Texans. They’ve played tough thus far this season, tying the Colts in Week 1, losing a close one on the road in Denver in Week 2. Oh yeah, and their coach… Lovie Smith. Say what you want about him, finally getting canned by the Bears after a 10-6 season (what we wouldn’t give for a 10-6 season right about now) way back when. He’s bounced around a bit, coached Illinois, and now back as a head coach in the league, with one of the worst teams. He’ll have them ready to play, and believe me, this one means a little extra to him; it’s a game his players would love to win for him. We cannot let this happen.
Vegas has the hook, line, and sinker out on this one, showing the Bears as a 2.5 point favorite at home; you’re telling us the Texans would actually be favored in a neutral site?!?! How good are the Colts? And the Broncos? Maybe they’re not that great; not saying we are, but… maybe we should pump the brakes on the Texas “playing tough” thing. At the very worst, we’re even with them; we’re playing them at home… we should win. Who the heck is their QB?
More important is who our QB is. Justin Fields has an opportunity to build up some confidence in this one. Yes, the running game should be front and center, but think this is a game where we’ll see some downfield completions from Justin, getting both Mooney and zero catch Kmet involved. Our defense, yeah, got hurt by the Pack a bit last week, should be able to hold its own against these dudes. This game shouldn’t be that close. Why does this line indicate that, other than trying to trap us? The national TV flop by the Bears is being overplayed maybe; the Texans “playing tough” is being overplayed. The game will prove what is truly what.
Final Score Prediction: Bears 27 Texans 13
Ace in the Hole: Justin Fields 3 total TDs
Don’t screw us here Bears. Losing to the Texans, with Lovie Smith as their head coach, would be painful; not as painful as last week, but pretty darn painful. If the Bears want to be anything this year, they need to win games like this. Maybe, just like last week, they’re not ready for that either; that would be disappointing. I’m ignoring the trap signals, and predicting a big Bears W. I don’t care; I’ve been wrong before. Not this time though… not this time. Famous last words… Bear Down!!!
