September 16, 2022: Week 2 Preview at Packers

posted in: Bears | 0

Here we go again; it’s Groundhog Day! How many times have I previewed a Bears Packers matchup? How many times have I stayed positive, embraced my hate for the Packers, picked the Bears to win, and saw the Bears lose? You’d think I’d learn my lesson…

Welcome to Bears Packers round 205. Green Bay has won 103; we have won 95. There have been 6 ties. As we/I learned in the offseason, the Bears and Packers are 1-2 in all-time NFL wins as well. Entering the season, the Bears sat at 783; the Packers sat at 782. If things played out like they should have, we’d be tied right now, giving the national TV coverage something to focus on Sunday night. The Packers would be passing the Bears for all-time wins and never look back. Well, that’s why they play the games they say; the Bears beat the Niners, while the Packers got their asses handed to them by the Vikings. No passing the Bears this week Cheeseheads… no passing the Bears ever? Haha…

Certainly feel like the Packers will be good as long as they have their 2nd of back to back HOF QBs at the helm. Certainly feel like the Bears need a year or two until they really start to excel again. It’s only a matter of time before the Packers surpass the Bears in that all-time win category; not so sure about the “never looking back” part though. I chronicled the history of our matchups over the summer I believe, breaking it down to pre-Favre and Rodgers. Yeah, things were certainly different when one team has a Hall of Fame QB. To say it’s been a tough run against the Pack would be facts. To say the Packers will follow up Rodgers with a 3rd HOF QB in a row would not be likely. Now I’m not saying Fields will be a HOF QB… no, not saying that. I’m just saying put in a “normal” QB and let’s see what happens. This current Packers HOF QB certainly looked “normal” last week, with his cast of no-name WRs and shabby OL. Funny how that works. But I’m sure because he will be a HOF QB, he’ll be able to succeed in spite of that, to carry his team to the playoffs, and lose in the NFC Championship game, right?

Yeah, we’ll still worry about Rodgers. We’ll worry about Lambeau and the 12th man; not the fans, the refs. We’ll worry about the Packers bouncing back after a loss. We’ve seen this movie before, many, many times. I’m ready to start seeing a different ending to this movie, and not just one time. I’m ready for the tide to be turned, to our side, for a couple decades. It’s been way too long since we “owned” the Packers…

Final Score Prediction: Bears 24 Packers 21

Ace in the Hole: Bears defense– 5 sacks, 3 picks, and 1 TD

To make Aaron Rodgers eat his words; that’s what we all want, right? To see an asshole run his mouth… he deserves what’s coming to him. Question is: will this Bears team be able to shut his ass up for a night this Sunday? Stay tuned and Bear Down!!!
