The NBA regular season schedule recently came out. They don’t do the whole schedule release show like the NFL, at least not that I know of, but they will pump the big games, like opening night, Christmas and New Year’s, and the rivalries/rematches of note, etc. For me, I’m only concerned about one thing, which is of course, our Bulls schedule.
Mark your calendars now: opening night for the Bulls is on Wednesday October 19th in Miami. Yes, just like with the Bears, Cubs, and Blackhawks, I don’t care about the preseason; wake me when the games are real. I will be up on that Wednesday about 2 months from now; 2 months?!?! They will play their first two on the road, with a game in Washington DC on that Friday, before coming home to the UC on Saturday 10/22 against Cleveland. Will you be in attendance for the home opener???
We’ll have some nationally televised games against Charlotte, Boston, Golden State, New York, Philly, Charlotte (again), Brooklyn, Milwaukee, and the Nets and Bucks again; I didn’t count the games on NBA TV as nationally televised… only ESPN and TNT. It’s nice to get the exposure, but I’d rather listen to Stacey on the local broadcast all day long. Those national folks just kill me… seemingly more so as I get older. I have to listen to you tell me stuff about my team, when I know more about my team than you??? F that. Anyways…
The Bulls do NOT play on Christmas or New Year’s Day. The UC Christmas game will be on 12/16, the last home game before Christmas. We will play at home on New Year’s Eve against the Cavs again. I like the NYE game; although it’s usually in the afternoon, even a 6pm start time provides some earlier viewing on that night, hopefully kicking off the celebration. The other dates I started looking at were around my son’s school schedule, hoping to get to a road game this year. Need to drill down a bit more; the first glance didn’t provide any opportunities, but we’ll see. I haven’t seen the Bulls on the road since… I believe in LA, when we lived out there. Oh no, I’m wrong; we did see them in Milwaukee when my son was younger. That was his only Bulls road game thus far; we definitely need to add to that, but a little tough since the NBA schedule pretty much mirrors his months in school.
OK, well, I guess that’s our little Bulls excitement for the time being. With baseball winding down, we prepare for DA Bears; this is where the focus is shifting. But, not too far off in the distant future, may present our best chance for a title this year in Chicago (assuming the White Sox keep shitting the bed). Yeah, it’s the Bulls I’m talking about; what do you think? They checked that playoff box last year, so expectations are higher. Need to win in the postseason; that’s next. I don’t think that’s out of the question, but we have a lot of time to talk about that…
