August 14, 2022: My Annual Sox Game

Hey, I can attend a White Sox game too; they are not my team, but they are from Chicago too. Sunday was my annual Sox game. Main reason for attending this one was the fact that it was Bulls Kid Nation day; my son is part of that club. We got to walk on the field before the game, which was super cool. He also got to meet Benny, who signed a baseball for him. He found out how fast he pitched, which made him really happy. I cannot lie; it was a really nice time.

We almost missed the parade; we got into the line at 12:12 PM, 3 minutes before they closed the line… whew! The guys working for the Sox tried to keep the crowd moving, saying no pictures, etc… but what fun would that be? Heck yeah we snapped some shots. Got him in his batting stance near home plate; got him jumping up against the foul pole in left field. Took a pic of him and a few of the groundskeepers. Snapped a selfie of me and him with the scoreboard in the back. Great, great experience; he enjoyed the heck out of it. After that, we walked to our seats, and were about to sit down, but then we saw Benny. He was talking to people, taking pictures, down by the Sox dugout. We walked down there, not a big line. We brought a baseball and a sharpie, which came in really handy at this very moment. Benny actually has a pretty cool signature; he was pumped. Wanted to get Southpaw’s signature along with it, but that didn’t happen.

Actually, I skipped a part; we stopped to do the speed pitch first. It’s a bit misleading to me, due to the fact I didn’t know I had to pay for that until we were up. What was I going to say then? So I chucked up the $5 for 4 pitches. Now remember, my son is only 10 years old. When is saw a little kid throw before him, he clocked in at 38; I knew he was faster than him. I figured mid 40s maybe. He got up there and hit 51 on his first pitch, and 52 on the next three; he was psyched up! I think that’s pretty good for his age; I knew he had a good arm. Have to protect that left arm of his… you never know!

Yeah, the Sox won too; hit a couple of HRs, so we got to see some fireworks. The 7th inning stretch pretty much sucked; nothing compares to Wrigley. I did see some people walking around in Cubs gear; I think that’s dumb. I think it’s dumb when people wear their White Sox gear to Wrigley too. Unless they’re playing each other, you’re just trying to stir things up. I always wear my Bears gear when I go to Comiskey, except on this day; Bulls gear for Bulls day, duh! It worked out nicely.

So yeah, hit another game before he goes back to school. I’d like to sneak in another Cubs game before it’s all said and done; should be able to get dirt cheap tickets in a couple weeks… even cheaper than they are now. That’ll work.
