When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are… that’s the song that pops in my head when I think of Disney World. I’ll tell you what; it is quite the operation down there. We got pretty lucky. With my brother in law and mother in law paying for the resort and entrances to the park, I didn’t spend nearly as much as I would have; really appreciated that. It was done to have a trip with the 3 younger cousins together, while they’re still at that age; 10, 8, and 3 made for a great experience for them; that’s what it’s all about. But let me tell you… that Star Wars land in Disney Studios… fricking awesome.
I’m a big Star Wars guy; walking into that section of the park, I felt like I think my son felt most of the trip. I was walking around in awe, just soaking it in. We got to board the Millenium Falcon for God’s sake!!! There was Kylo Ren being escorted by 2 storm troopers walking around in the middle of the park. There was the cantina selling Star Wars related drinks. There was the brand new ride, where we got captured as prisoners of the First Order before making a daring escape as Kylo’s lightsaber began to cut through the roof of our vehicle. There was a droid factory, where you can make your own droid. There was a lightsaber making place; there was another spot with memorabilia that I didn’t go in, which was probably a good thing. It was unreal. In fact, one could make the argument of an entire theme park based exclusively on Star Wars. Each resort could be a different planet, like Tatooine, Hoth, Endor, etc, etc, etc… Whenever Disney acquired the rights to Star Wars, they knew what they were doing; slam dunk money making machine. I can understand why people would come from other countries to see this. It was easily my favorite part of the trip.
Of course, I loved it all. I never came to Disney as a kid, but I have been to plenty of amusement parks. I love all the rides; rollercoasters and water rides are the best. I’m glad my son is up for the coasters. We got on the Rock N Roll one. He was pumped, until he saw the car before us zip out of the starting gate; you should have seen his face. He still did it, and loved it. Once his younger cousin started getting on the coasters the next day, he loved it too. They are great; glad my back held up… haha. It was a lot though… I mean, all day, from ride to ride, 97 degrees, humidity, etc. In the middle of that 2nd day, we started having some meltdowns… but we made it. A trip back to the resort, “couple” drinks, and a dip in the pool, made the evening portion of the 2nd day a breeze.
Overall, great vacation, that went by too quickly, as they all do. Already looking forward to the next vacation, wherever, whenever that will be. Very blessed to be able to take vacations. For now, back to reality!
