July 29, 2022: Year 2

posted in: Bears | 0

We have to change the way we look at things. With the Bears actually having a QB… can we agree on that yet? Maybe not… I get it. We need to see more; we need to see progress. At the end of this year, we should know. But yeah, year 2 of Justin Fields career will be an important one in determining his career arc. How good can he be? Have the Bears finally hit the jackpot in the QB sweepstakes??? OK, let’s finish off the season predictions.

Remember, when we left off, the Bears were 6-4; they were 5-0 at home, and 1-4 on the road. Young QB the cause of that split? Maybe just how the schedule broke out? Maybe just life in the NFL? Whatever it is, the Bears are bound to win again on the road this year, right?

Week 11 at Falcons– WIN 42-24: Speaking about opponent QBs… I know Matty Ice is gone; who is the Falcons’ QB again? Are you seeing this common theme with the Bears opponents or is it just me not being in tune with who is at the helm for all these teams? Excuse me if playing the Falcons in Atlanta isn’t scaring me this year. I remember facing Vick there, on the fast turf, with Urlacher chasing him around… great times man. The Bears get a win on the road, surpass their projected win total, and prepare for a playoff run??? I know, I’m crazy…

Week 12 at Jets– WIN 17-16: Speaking about opponent QBs… Zach Wilson… the only reason I know his name is because of his prowess with the MILFs, but his prowess on the field??? Well, excuse me if I’m not shaking in my boots about visiting New York to play the Jets. Somebody please tell me I’m crazy; somebody please tell me.

Week 13 vs Packers– Wi…LOSS 31-23: Yeah, about that undefeated home record. I hate doing it, but… (hopefully this reverse psychology pays off) the Packers are a really good team even with the same quality of WRs as the Bears. Nick Cage, I mean, Aaron Rodgers… what a fake phony bitch… is still very good, and yeah, we can’t get over the hump this year (I’m really trying…). Have no fear; playoffs are still a possibility heading into a very late bye week.

Week 14 Bye: Bears record is 8-5, I repeat, 8-5 at the bye week. Heck, even if that record was switched at 5-8 they’d be outperforming some expectations. But since we already have 8 wins in the bank, might as well make the playoffs, right?

Week 15 vs Eagles: WIN 27-24: Another game at home, another W at home. I like the Eagles young QB as well, but in a matchup setup as Fields vs Hurts, Fields gets the nod… because his team won of course!

Week 16 vs Bills: LOSS 35-24: The Bills are potential Super Bowl contenders. The Bears are having a great season, but Buffalo is in that top tier. 2nd loss at home this year.

Week 17 at Lions: LOSS 28-27: I told you the Lions are getting better. After this loss, the Bears sit at 9-7 heading into the final week of the season… at home… against a division foe.

Week 18 vs Vikings: WIN 20-17: Gutsy, gutsy W for our boys, clinching a playoff spot. Year 2 for Fields= playoffs??? Yes, heck yes!

A season record of 10-7; is that so out of the question? All of this, and still picked them to lose both games vs the Packers and go 3-5 on the road. How did we get that extra home game this year? The schedule, specifically the home schedule, is favorable. If Fields can be better than last year, if he can take that next step, the one I think he will take, then why not? If he can’t, well… we’ll cross that bridge if we have to. Until then, I’m ready for some football; I’m ready to see the Bears return to relevance… THIS year. Yeah, this year… Bear Down!!!
