July 28, 2022: Kicking Into Gear

posted in: Bears | 0

OK, time to continue our 2022 Chicago Bears season predictions. Because I was blabbing, I cut the first entry short after Week 4; I got the Bears at 3-1. As the season really kicks into gear, my optimism will be kicking into gear… or will it? Let’s get back to another division game.

Week 5 at Vikings– LOSS 28-17: This one was ugly. Speaking about QBs… We usually kick Cousins ass around the field, but we do have some trouble with Cook. Fields has his worst game of the year; the Bears super bowl dreams take a hit… haha. Road games are tough in general; road games within the division, other than Detroit, are really tough. Let’s keep it moving…

Week 6 vs Commanders– WIN 35-21: It doesn’t even look right… not the W, the opponent’s team name… the Commanders??? When did they promote a USFL/XFL team to the NFL? Poor Washington fans, but hey, you still got a football team, so there’s that. I’m sure we’ll get used to the new name, just like anything else, but we’re not expecting this team to be any good this year, are we? ANOTHER winnable home game, and the Bears move to 4-2.

Week 7 at Patriots– LOSS 31-21: Brady is gone, and we still can’t beat the Patriots. Yet, every time we see them, I think of the one game we DID beat them… actually destroy them on the biggest stage. Yeah, the Patriots can look at all of their Super Bowl wins, but in the history books, we’re 1-0 against them in the big game. I was already watching some Walter Payton highlights earlier this week; when will I watch some 85 Bears highlights? I do tend to watch those more when the Bears suck, so hopefully won’t be watching too much this year… haha.

Week 8 at Cowboys– LOSS 28-27: The tale of two groups of games, home vs away. As the Bears start off the season 3-0 at home, they start off 1-4 on the road, and when you add it all up, the Bears are at 500 almost halfway through the season; that’s not too bad is it? The Bears are who we thought they were? Well, actually, they would be a little better than what everybody else thought about us. It’d be nice to get back home and get some more Ws…

Week 9 vs Dolphins– WIN 35-31: I do know the QB of the Dolphins; it don’t matter. The Bears cannot lose at Soldier Field!!! Haha… Wouldn’t that be nice? For teams to actually fear coming to Chicago to play us? Sure, just as we start to instill that fear the next few years in Soldier Field, we’ll be moving to Arlington Heights; ironic eh?

Week 10 vs Lions– WIN 27-17: The Lions… easy W right? Well, this has been true for a minute, but… I do think the Lions are on a better track; I do think they’ll be better, but not this week. The Bears are at home remember??? The Bears win their first 5 games in Chicago? Look at those opponents and tell me I’m really that nuts. As the Bears sit on the brink of beating their Vegas win total at 6-4, I’m cracking the champagne, and planning my retirement with that $100 waiting for me in Vegas. The more I think about it, as I continue to go through the schedule, the better I feel about it; I wish I had put more money on it…

OK, feels like a good time for another break. The Bears are 6-4 guys!!! Now we get to see all these people posting stuff about how wrong everybody was… I hate that shit. Projections are projections; these idiots get paid to do their thing, so… let them do it. Let’s just be happy where the Bears are at, because after all, they haven’t won shit yet. But it is good to be above 500 into the 2nd half of the season in year 2 of Justin Fields. Bear Down!!!
